Amazon’s sci-fi comedy series Upload stars Robbie Amell and Andy Allo, but where have you seen them before? With the current coronavirus pandemic, many films and TV shows were put on hold, but there are still many others ready to see the light – especially in the world of streaming, which is now seeing a bigger flow of users and activity. Amazon is now the home of a new comedy series titled Upload, which offers a fun yet deep look at a world where technology dominates everything, even the afterlife.
Created by Greg Daniels (The Office and Parks & Recreation), Upload is set in a not-so-distant future where humans are able to “upload” themselves into their preferred choice of afterlife. The series follows Nathan Brown, who after much insistence from his girlfriend, ends up being uploaded after a car accident. There he is guided by Nora as he grows accustomed to a new type of “life” away from his loved ones. Meanwhile, Nora struggles to stay afloat working her job, dealing with a family situation, and keeping Nathan company in the afterlife.

Robbie Amell as Nathan Brown
Robbie Amell plays Nathan Brown, a 27-year old man who following a car accident is pushed by his manipulative girlfriend to accept an upload so they can be together in the afterlife. Amell’s first role was in the comedy Cheaper by the Dozen 2 as Daniel Murtaugh, and later appeared in the horror film Left for Dead. Amell also appeared in Disney Channel’s Life with Derek, Nickelodeon’s True Jackson, VP, and had the lead role in the series The Tomorrow People. Amell is best known for playing Ronnie Raymond in The CW’s The Flash, and recently starred in the sci-fi film Code 8.
Andy Allo as Nora
Andy Allo plays Nora, a Horizon employee in charge of creating the new uploads’ avatars and guiding them through their afterlife at Lakeview, serving as an “angel” figure to them. One of the uploads under her watch is Nathan, with whom she quickly develops a bond, and so begins to juggle her real life and issues with her role as companion to Nathan in the afterlife. Allo is best known for her career as singer and songwriter, and was a singer and guitarist in Prince’s band in 2011. Some of her past acting credits include the TV shows The Game, Black Lightning, Chicago Fire, and the film Pitch Perfect 3.
Upload Supporting Cast
- Allegra Edwards as Ingrid Kannerman: Nathan’s controlling girlfriend who pushed him to accept the upload. Edwards has mostly appeared in short films and minor roles in various TV series.
- Kevin Bigley as Luke: another upload who becomes Nathan’s best friend in the afterlife. Bigley had roles in the films Rebirth and The Angry Birds Movie, and voiced Quentin Tarantulino in BoJack Horseman.
- Rhys Slack as Dylan: an upload who died when he was a kid, and isn’t ok with staying that young forever. Slack previously appeared in the TV movie Christmas Town.
- Zainab Johnson as Aleesha: Nora’s co-worker and friend. Johnson is best known for her work as stand-up comedian.
- Andrea Rosen as Lucy: Nora and Aleesha’s boss. Rosen has appeared in a number of TV shows, most notably Episodes.
- Owen Daniels as A.I. Guy: the guy uploads go to when they need assistance with anything at Lakeview, as he can multiply himself as needed. Daniels had a minor appearance in The Office and will appear in the upcoming series Space Force.
