Ubisoft recently released Hyper Scape into open beta and is free to play on PC. This new battle royale focuses on mobility and fast-paced combat while also adding a few twists to how upgrading the player's equipment works. All in all, Hyper Scape breathes a breath of fresh air into the oversaturated genre of battle royales.

While the majority of battle royales signify a weapon or item's rarity/power by its color, Hyper Scape offers a base rarity for all items. In traditional battle royales, finding loot is largely based on RNG meaning two players could land at the same location, but one of the players could have the chance of finding an incredibly powerful weapon while the other finds a pistol. Hyper Scape replaces colo rarities with a unique weapon and hacks upgrade system allowing all players to have a fair chance of finding a good weapon at the start of each game.

Upgrading Weapons And Hack In Hyper Scape

Games such as Fortnite or Call of Duty allow players to upgrade their weapons, but it's not nearly as intuitive as Hyper Scape's weapon upgrading. Players are allowed to carry two different guns at one time. In order to upgrade a weapon, all a player has to do it find another one of the same weapons they are already holding. Collecting additional copies of the same gun will automatically upgrade the player's weapon. Players can upgrade a weapon up to five times with the weapon holding more ammo and dealing more damage with every upgrade.

The same goes for hacks. Hacks are abilities that players can use but have to be collected like weapons, and players can carry two hacks at one time. In order to upgrade a hack, all a player has to do is collect multiple copies of the same hack. Each hack is unique meaning that each upgrade has different effects based on the hack. As a rule of thumb, each upgrade increases the duration and lowers the cooldown speed of most hacks. Like weapons, each hack can only be upgraded five times.

While battle can be determined by who has more upgrades on their weapons, Hyper Scape's upgrade system takes out some of the RNG battle royales are known for. And while some guns definitely outshine others, putting in the work to upgrade a gun can help in a fight with someone who depends on the firepower of their weapon's base stats.
