Fortnite has yet another challenge ready to go for Week 5. This list is a little longer than the previous ones and it's going to take some work to get them done. This guide will focus specifically on how to upgrade a weapon in Salty Springs.

Season 3, Week 5 of Fortnite has some rather crazy goals to meet this time around. Of course, Fortnite is no stranger with weekly content drops, since it's now a staple with this IP. With the addition of Fortnite: Creative, this game has garnered a whole new generation of fans that want to share their ideas worldwide. It's not to say that Battle Royale is the meat and potatoes of this game, however, it's worth pointing out that there's new content to dive into that has given this game longevity. The 'Save The World' game mode is also popular with its co-op with its PVE implementation in which players team up to battle zombie-like creatures called "Husks". The appeal of this mode is that it provides a thin narrative for players to partake in that gives them objectives to meet. Things like; saving survivors, building shelters, and defending equipment is the norm. Thus, players can also set up traps that help defend bases all of which can be upgraded.

Upgrading is the core aspect of Fortnite and the thought of beefing up their weapons and inventory drives the player-base forward. Taking the pickaxe and chipping away basic structures to obtain materials it the main exercise to obtain loot. There are all kinds of ways to grind and obtain the resources needed. Materials are needed to upgrade weapons, each increasing in number with every Tier. If a player wants to upgrade an uncommon weapon into a common weapon, then they'll need 50 of the required material. After that, the amount of that required material will double. That's the basic format of how upgrading weapons is structured. When players have enough resources to upgrade certain weapons, they will need to find a workbench that's hidden throughout the map. Some are out in the open, while others are hidden in buildings.

With the current list of challenges available, players will notice that upgrading a weapon in Salty Springs will be required. The kicker is that the usual fixed workbench that's located in Salty Springs will not be there this week. Instead, players will need to find items to make a workbench and construct it in its spot. In other words, players will need to establish a deployable workbench for themselves. This is a rare item and it can take a little bit of grinding in order to get the needed materials. It's recommended that players play a few rounds of 'Team Rumble', which can help get the most hearty amount of materials needed.

Week 5 Challenge List:

  • Eliminations at Retail Row (3)
  • Search Chests at Sweaty Sands (7)
  • Catch fish at Craggy Cliffs (5)
  • Land at the Yacht and finish top 25 (1)
  • Use a Firefly Jar or Flare Gun at Misty Meadows (1)
  • Collect floating rings at Steamy Stacks (4)
  • Upgrade a weapon at Salty Springs (1)

Even though this week's challenges are a little awkward, they should be fairly straightforward to complete. Just make sure to take a little time and get the needed mats for the deployable workbench. This actually should be the first thing to do, before tackling the rest of the challenges. Therefore, time won't be wasted grinding for mats when the clock is ticking. Luckily, deployable workbenches can be easily constructed if players use their mats responsibly and have enough stored up.
