The Pokémon Company's August 2021 Pokémon Presents event kicked things off with updates on Pokémon Unite. After revealing the mobile version's release date, the company ended the Pokémon Unite portion of the presentation by giving fans a sneak peek at two new Pokémon coming to the MOBA's roster.

In Pokémon Unite, teams of five square off against one another in a battle to defeat the wild Pokémon and score the most Aeos points. Currently, there are 44 characters on Pokémon Unite's roster, including pre-evolutions, for players to select as their champion, and each has its own unique set of abilities. Part of the nature of MOBA games is adding new playable characters to keep gameplay fresh, and Pokémon Unite has no shortage of options to bring to its arena.

Though rumors of a coming Blastoise release date seem to have been premature, new characters have already entered the game. As of August 18, Blissey has entered the fray as a Supporter Pokémon, bringing healing and protection to its teammates. A recent Pokémon Unite update also nerfed and buffed a number of existing characters to better balance gameplay between Attackers, Speedsters, All-Rounders, Defenders and Supporters. Now, Pokémon Unite will be bringing two more new Pokémon to the scene in future updates.

Pokémon Unite's Confirmed Upcoming Pokémon

Pokemon Unite Sylveon attacks

Mamoswine, an Ice/Ground-type Pokémon resembling a wooly mammoth, was the first revealed in the Pokémon Presents teaser, shown freezing an enemy in a ball of ice, then using its tusks to smash it down. It's also shown rearing on its hind legs, gathering power, then charging forward to attack an enemy multiple times. Because Mamoswine naturally has defensive abilities in the main games (such as Thick Fat, Snow Cloak and Oblivious) and its previewed attacks seem rather powerful and aggressive, it's likely this character will be best used as an All-Rounder.

Sylveon, the Fairy-type Eeveevolution, is a white and pink fox that almost looks too cheerful to partake in combat. Its skills in Pokémon Unite seem to include an attack in which it shoots a pink cone of energy at a wild Pokémon, resulting in its capture. Another move shows Sylveon rising in the air, hovering for a moment, then coming to the ground and annihilating the Pokémon on the ground. Combining those abilities with Sylveon's base stats, Pokémon Unite players will likely use this Pokémon as a Speedster or Supporter.
