With Disney's recent release of Encanto, viewers are saying it's the new Frozen. Like Encanto, Frozen focuses on the power of family and has catchy songs that are hard to get out of fans' heads. As addicting as Encanto is, however, Frozen and Frozen II reign supreme.

Both films have broken countless records and earned a lot of money. As iconic as the franchise is, there are some fans on Reddit who have some unpopular views on the characters, their storylines, and even the songs.

Frozen Never Needed A Sequel, It Needed A Prequel

Anna and Elsa reunite at the end of Frozen 2 as the fifth spirit bridge

In 2019, Frozen II was released and showed the sisters in a new adventure when Elsa answers the call of a faraway spirit. The sequel succeeded in the box office and was praised by viewers, but many didn't think Frozen II was better than the originalReddit u/Netoeu said, "Frozen doesn't need a sequel, but a prequel instead."

This comment was viewed as unpopular because some fans mentioned watching Elsa and Anna live's as kids separated due to Elsa's powers wouldn't have been too entertaining.

Hatred For Anna

As one of the movie's protagonists, Anna is a beloved Disney character. She was wildly different from her sister Elsa and she had some of the best quotes in the franchise because of her humor. Anna was the real hero of the film.

But was all the hype for Anna worth it? Reddit u/AnonnyMis wrote, "Princess Anna is a crap-a**ed character riding on the popularity of the far superior Snow Queen Elsa & comedic side-kick Olaf."  They went on to say that they felt Anna was unrealistic and had "no value in the universe." Considering Anna saves the day in Frozen and becomes a queen in Frozen II, this is a very unpopular opinion.

The Music Is Overrated

Frozen and Frozen II have some of the best songs in the Disney universe. "Let It Go" was a global success and is one of the highest-selling Disney songs to date. But it wasn't just "Let It Go" that was a hit, other songs like "For the First Time in Forever" and "Into the Unknown" were also hits.

On the contrary, Reddit u/00glyd00gly didn't like the songs in Frozen II. "I hate the movie and the music. Everyone around me can not stop raving about it, watching it over and over on the big screen TV, or covering that godawful song and posting it on social media," they wrote. With the movies and soundtracks being such a success, this opinion can be controversial.

Elsa And Anna Had Bad Parents

Anna and Elsa's Parents in the Snow

In Frozen, Elsa and Anna were orphaned when their parents died at sea. As fans found out in Frozen II, they died while trying to find the source of Elsa's magic at Ahtohallan.

Before their deaths, flashbacks to their time as parents were shown and it was clear they adored Anna and Elsa but didn't know how to handle Elsa's unique powers as public figures. Reddit u/AshTuesdays wrote, "If we're talking Frozen in the parenting sub, we need to discuss how HORRIBLY Anna and Elsa's parents messed them up. The whole franchise is a cautionary tale." However, many fans found this unpopular and stood up for the parents. They gave more attention to Elsa because she needed help more than Anna did. But that didn't mean they didn't love Anna any less.

Fans Didn't Need To See Anna And Elsa's Life As Kids In Frozen 2

Frozen 2 Anna and Elsas Mother

While a prequel of Anna and Elsa's childhood didn't make sense, it was helpful for viewers to see the kind of relationship Elsa and Anna had as sisters and with their parents. They were also adorably created. But as sweet and fun as it was watching them in flashbacks, Reddit u/Demian_Dillers begged to differ.

They wrote, "I don't really want to see more of their childhoods especially before the accident, I think what we saw was more than enough." To make their comment even more unpopular, they added, "And Anna isn't particularly adorable." A majority of Frozen fans loved seeing Elsa and Anna as kids because of how cute they were.

Kristen Bell And Idina Menzel Were Miscast

Anna and Elsa in a promo from Frozen

Actresses Kristen Bell and Idina Manzel voice Anna and Elsa. Due to how incredible both of their voices are and the power in their acting abilities, Kristen Bell and Idina Manzel were perfectly cast. The success of all the songs in the Frozen franchise proves that.

Reddit u/Portgas had an unpopular opinion on the voicing of Anna and Elsa, however. "[The] English version of the movie miscast both Elsa and Anna; Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel don't fit properly and sound too old for their roles," they wrote. But with both women being mature adults in the movie, the popular opinion is that their voices were quite fitting.

Olaf Is Annoying

Olaf reenacts Frozen 2 in Olaf Presents

Olaf was the comedic relief that the Frozen franchise sometimes needed. As a snowman companion, he relied on Anna and Elsa to survive through the spring and summers. As a snowman, he wasn't the most helpful on their adventures together, but he did have some of the funniest quotes. Kids, in particular, adore Olaf.

There are a few fans on Reddit, however, who dislike Olaf. Reddit u/Sparklemuffin_ wrote, "I usually love the funny/goofy character in animated movies, but Olaf just comes off as annoying and not funny to me. Everyone seems to love him and I just don’t."

Frozen 2 Should Have Had A Different Ending

Elsa riding The Nokk in Frozen 2

One of Elsa's best traits is knowing when it's time to move on. She has great instincts and made a great queen. But in Frozen II, Elsa decided to stay in Ahtohallan where her powers were more accepted. To do this, she passed the title of queen down to Anna. Fans saw the power of family in this action and were excited that both women got to do what they were destined for.

Reddit u/Bcraft23, however, felt the ending could have been better. "As much as it follows the usual Disney happy ending, I think it would've been better for Elsa to stay frozen," they wrote. The death of Elsa would have totally changed Anna's personality and behavior. It's hard to say if a sequel would be needed at that point.

Pocahontas Was Better

Frozen 2 Ahtohallan Memory Scene

The popular opinion on Reddit is that while Frozen is one of the best Disney movies, other movies are seen as better. Two of the popular movies that fans are choosing over Frozen include Moana and Tangled. However, Reddit u/Datdoe1 wrote that they thought "Pocahontas is better than Frozen."

The Redditor noted that the songs in Pocahontas were better, as were the actors. Fans of Frozen argued that Pocahontas "glorifies a fake story" and was a rather dark tale for a kids' movie.

Poor Character Development

It's hard not to like the main characters in Frozen. Each character is unique from the rest and they each have their silly quirks that fans relate with. What's more, the growth each character experiences through both movies is considerable. Elsa became more confident in her role as queen and with her powers, and Anna went from the goofy younger sister to Queen of Arendelle.

However, Reddit u/Patient-Delivery-363 wrote "Frozen 2 kind of undoes all of the good character development that happens in Frozen 1."  They continued saying, "the second movie opens up with how much they love being together and nothing's going to change and then by the end of it Anna has to learn that people will not always be there for her and she has to be independent." On the contrary, many were proud of Anna's development.
