Switch Skills allow players to customize their playstyle even more in Monster Hunter Rise. This guide will show players how to unlock them and explain what they do. Monster Hunter Rise has a massive emphasis on player choice. From the various weapon classes to the name of your pets, the game allows players to change tons of different things with how they experience the game. From the very beginning, players are able to change their weapon class to another from their camp, allowing them to try out different playstyles. Bow users might be better off staying away from the target while Dual Blade players enjoy being right in its face. Although, there is more to each weapon class with the Switch Skills system. This guide will show players how it works and how they can unlock them all.

Switch Skills are essentially additional abilities that are tied to each of the different weapon classes. These will provide the player with extra buffs or combos that will change how this weapon class works. Each weapon class has 3 different Switch Skills it can unlock and what works for one player might not work for another. It's a great way to customize your loadout even further and truly feel like you're upgrading the gameplay of your character. Here is how players can unlock them all.

How To Unlock Switch Skills in Monster Hunter Rise

There are 3 different Switch Skills to unlock and each tier works a bit differently from the last. Here is how to unlock them all.

  • The First Switch Skill: Unlocked for every weapon after reaching 3-star quests in the Villager or 2-star quests in the hub. Head over to Master Utsushi to unlock them.
  • The Second Switch Skill: This will need to be unlocked individually for each weapon. The player will need to craft 5 different variants of that weapon class.
  • The Third Switch Skill: The player will need to get to Hunter Rank 4 to unlock a new set of quests. These 4 quests will need to be completed to unlock the next 5 quests but upon completing each of them will unlock the Third Switch Skill for that weapon. Here is how this is broken down.
  • Hunter Rank 4: Sword and Shield, Hunting Horn, Switch Axe, Light Bowgun
  • Hunter Rank 5: Great Sword, Hammer, Lance, Charge Blade, Heavy Bowgun
  • Hunter Rank 6: Long Sword, Dual Blades, Gunlance, Insect Glaive, Bow.

Monster Hunter Rise is all about building your perfect monster hunter. Switch Skills are a great way to go above and beyond with each of your weapons. Make sure to focus on your favorites first.
