While the final boss fight with the Supreme Titan in Sonic Frontiers was visually and acoustically outstanding, many players might have felt it was lacking in challenge, a void that the "secret final boss" can fill. For those unaware, the story features not only the normal battle with Supreme at the end of the main campaign but also an unlockable hidden boss known as The End, a.k.a. "The True Enemy." This opponent provides a substantially more challenging experience than Supreme and even introduces a new combat mechanic that might surprise fans. Although the ending cinematic does not change, players will be presented with unique cutscenes and dialogue that reveal additional lore for the story's conclusion.
To unlock the secret True Enemy boss in Sonic Frontiers, players only need to make a single change to the game's settings. This alteration involves changing the difficulty level to Hard. If players read the difficulty for Normal, the description will read, "Recommended for those who want a balance between story and challenging foes." On the other hand, Hard states, "Recommended for those who want challenging battles and something extra." This "something extra" refers to the secret final boss known as The End.
Unlocking The True Enemy Boss in Sonic Frontiers
There are few better feelings than discovering something new or unlocking a secret in a game as ambitiously expansive as Sonic Frontiers. However, most players will not have likely known about the secret boss of the main story, nor will they have noticed the extra text in the difficulty settings indicating that there is more to the narrative. Nevertheless, the internet is an excellent medium that enables players of the community, such as YouTuber GameXplain, to uncover and share the biggest secret of Sonic Frontiers.
GameXplain also states that players do not need to choose the Hard difficulty option from the start of the game to unlock The True Enemy in Sonic Frontiers. It is possible to access the hidden boss fight by switching the difficulty to Hard right before obtaining the final Chaos Emerald on the last island.
