Many games are celebrating the Lunar New Year with free themed gifts, prizes, and events, and, if players are looking for something more to do in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, they can return to Azeroth and create four seasonal flower crowns that can be used all year long. The Lunar New Year event in World of Warcraft, Lunar Festival, coincides with the real-world festivities but celebrates the Burning Legion's first defeat centuries ago. Because the defeat came about due to an alliance between the Night Elves and other races, the event celebrates the Night Elves in particular. This festival takes place every February, and this year players can participate any time from February 17 to March 7. The event is the same this year as it was in 2020.

During the event, players can grab limited-edition loot, including cosmetics, fireworks, toys, and other transmog items. However, most of these cosmetics can only be used as transmog until the end of the event. Back in 2020, Blizzard added four flower crown cosmetics that can become permanent transmog items, provided players complete a series of quests for each style during the event. This means players can keep the appearance of the cosmetic but the stats of other, higher-level armor and gear. Here's how to get the Lunar Festival flower crowns and make them permanent transmog items in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands.

How to Start the Permanent Transmog Quests for Lunar Festival Cosmetics in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands

A Night Elf player character wears a flower crown, a Lunar Festival permanent transmog item in World of Warcraft

Players will need to purchase any or all of the flower crowns during the Lunar Festival to start the process of making them a permanent transmog item. Players can find all of these in Moonglade: Crown of Courage, Crown of Prosperity, Crown of Dark Blossoms, and Crown of Good Fortune. These four temporary crowns cost 25 Coins of Ancestry each, which players can gather by talking to Elders in Kalimdor, the Eastern Kingdoms, and Northrend.

Talking to Ancestors with a single character will only yield 84 Coins of Ancestry. Players who want all four crowns should also make plans to complete a one-time quest that will award 25 Coins: Lunar Preservation. Players can pick up this quest by talking to Myrael Lunarbloom in Moonglade. Players will find Myrael near the vendor NPCs. at coordinates 53.2, 36.1.

To complete the quest, players will need to visit eight moonwells across Azeroth to perform the Rite of the Moon and return with all eight moonwell buffs before they wear off to complete the quest. In general, it is easiest for Druids with the Dreamwalk spell to complete this quest, as they can access portals near each moonwell and complete the quest more quickly. It is still possible for other classes to complete the rite and return to Myrael, though it will take them more time. The location and coordinates for each moonwell appear below:

  • Moonglade: 48.4, 33.5
  • Felwood: 44.0, 28.3
  • Ashenvale: 53.0, 46.0
  • Ashenvale: 60.1, 72.8
  • Stonetalon Mountains: 41.7, 19.0
  • Feralas: 60.0, 46.0
  • Duskwood: 49.1, 33.6
  • Mount Hyjal: 60.0, 24.0

Upon returning to Myrael, players will receive 25 Coins of Ancestry that can be used right away to purchase one of the crowns. Players can repeat this quest with other characters to purchase all four crowns and save their remaining Coins of Ancestry for some of the other seasonal goodies.

As players purchase each of the flower crowns, they can return to Myrael to pick up the associated quests to make them permanent transmog items. Myrael will send the players to Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms to collect flowers. Druids will have the advantage again, as they can use Dreamwalk to eliminate most of the associated travel. Mages can also create portals that can help limit the amount of time spent traveling. The coordinates for the flowers for each crown appear below:
