Tribes of Midgard contains multiple classes that can be unlocked for players to use throughout the adventure. Scattered across the landscape, players will encounter dangerous animals, beasts, and mythical creatures with a variety of characteristics. The most persistent and dangerous are the Helthings, nightshades of corruption that attack after dark, and the colossal Jotnar, elemental titans of destruction with one single goal in mind: to destroy the seeds of Yggdrasil.

In every game of Tribes of Midgard, players spawn with zero items or abilities unless they use a starter kit beforehand and have to work their way up by collecting materials and souls to become more powerful. Occasionally, items called Golden Horns will drop, and these award special boons when used at the Golden Altar or in the in-game store. In addition to using boons, choosing a combat class will greatly increase a Viking's survivability rate.

At the beginning of Tribes of Midgard, players can choose one of two classes, Ranger and Warrior, but there are six others they can unlock. Unlocking new classes in Tribes of Midgard usually requires players to complete specific objectives. In addition to the Ranger and Warrior classes in Tribes of Midgard, players can unlock the Guardian, Seer, Hunter, Berserker, Sentinel, and Warden classes. Each class comes with unique abilities players can use against the various enemies across each world. Each class also has specific unlock conditions players must meet.

How to Unlock New Classes in Tribes of Midgard

Tribes of Midgard_All Classes

Each of the objectives needed to unlock the remaining six classes must be completed in Tribes of Midgard's Saga Mode. Saga Mode is essentially a story mode that continues without stopping as long as the seed of Yggdrasil survives. Helthings become stronger at a very slow rate, and environments maintain their levels when players are traveling.

  • Guardian: Defeat three Jotnar in a World. Jotnar frequent the village every five days or so, depending on how quickly they move. Jotnar will only stop and attack players once the giant titans have taken enough damage to draw aggro. When they appear in Midgard, a warning will appear, and their location and direction will be marked on the minimap. When playing with multiple people, having some teammates advance to slow the Jotnar down and others defend the village can be helpful and make defeating the titan easier.
  • Seer: Use the Bifrost to exit 10 Worlds. Players can enter and leave the game at any point in time once the Bifrost has been opened. This returns them to the main menu, where they can rank up and earn items before reentering a world.
  • Hunter: Activate all Shrines in a World. Shrines are used for fast traveling around the map. There are mandatory quests players must complete to proceed and unlock new areas, so it can take time to unlock all shrines.
  • Berserker: Defeat 20 enemies in 10 seconds in a World. Completing this objective will most likely require a high-level weapon with two to three weapon skills. Helthings are the easiest enemies to find grouped up, and they usually invade in high numbers past the two-week point in Tribes of Midgard.
  • Sentinel: Block 25 attacks in 10 seconds in a World. Similar to the Berserker objective, players should try to complete the Sentinel objective during a Helthing invasion or Dokkalfar attack. They will need to block many attacks quickly, either from multiple enemies as in the invasion or from rapid-fire attacks.
  • Warden: Survive beyond Day 15 in a World. Players must pass Day 15 to unlock this class. This can be done as long as players make necessary upgrades to their village defenses, frequently repair their worn-out gear, and have a full or nearly full tribe.

If players have a full party of 10 in Tribes of Midgard, each member should consider choosing a different class to build the team and improve the chances of survival.
