While not the most cherished or even popular villains of the Disney franchise, Mother Gothel, the main antagonist of Tangled, is one of the Villagers that Dreamers can unlock in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Like other NPC characters of the Valley, Mother Gothel comes with a batch of Friendship Quests and perks that players can use to unlock special items and progress their world. To get started on helping this vile yet redeemable crone regain her memories, Dreamers must first gain access to a biome known as the Glade of Trust.

The Glade of Trust is an area to the southwest of the Peaceful Meadow, and to enter this rather dismal forest, Dreamers will need 5,000 Dreamlight. For newcomers, this amount can be quite the investment, yet, once players have completed a great deal of Dreamlight-related tasks and milestones, 5,000 can be procured in no time. After Merlin is able to clear away the thorny brush blocking the entrance, players can enter the Glade of Trust and search for Mother Gothel in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

While exploring the biome, Dreamers will eventually come upon a corrupted tree, triggering "The Curse," the required Friendship Quest for unlocking Mother Gothel in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Completing this quest might be tricky for some players, but fortunately, YouTuber Bazzy Gaming has provided the community with footage of how the mission plays out. Walkthrough Details

1

  • After activating "The Curse," find Merlin in the Valley and speak to him about the situation in the Glade of Trust.

2

  • After a cutscene plays, enter the treehouse in the dark woods and speak with Mother Gothel.
  • Follow her to the Pillar of Trust before being directed back to Merlin.

3

  • Since dark magic is not Merlin's specialty, he will suggest that Dreamers ask the Sea Witch Ursula for help.
  • She can be found swimming in the ocean of the Dazzle Beach.
  • If she is not in this area, check the ponds of water around Peaceful Meadow.

4

  • Ursula will direct fans to bring along another NPC to channel her magic in the player protagonist, allowing them to travel to the Here and There and retrieve the Orb of Trust.
  • This item is needed to unlock Mother Gothel in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

5

  • The new dimension players enter into might seem a bit disorienting at first, but keep following the massive visible glow caused by the orb in the distance.
  • Continue towards the pulsing glow to find the Orb of Trust.

6

  • After picking up the orb, the protagonist will be transported to the Pillar of Trust within the glade.
  • Finally, to complete "The Curse" and unlock Mother Gothel, head to her home near the center of the Glade of Trust and have one concluding conversation with the female character in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
