While many fans might feel Pokémon Scarlet and Violet lack polish or features in certain areas, one thing that most will agree on is the enjoyment that comes from exploration with Koraidon and Miraidon. The vast world of Paldea might not be as large as other modern open-world titles.

However, the map does indeed become more "open" as players unlock the ability to fly, swim, dash, climb, or high jump with their corresponding Mount Legendaries. For instance, there are areas within certain provinces that Trainers can visit relatively early on in their journey. However, there are specific locations, such as elevated ledges or isolated islands, that require players to upgrade their Koraidon and Miraidon for enhanced exploration.

Three Different Titan Pocket Monster Bosses in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

To unlock the ability to fly, swim, dash, climb, or high jump in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Trainers must defeat the Titan bosses that can be found in fixed locations across the map. More specifically, players can feed Koraidon or Miraidon Herba Mystica Sandwiches, which grant the Legendaries new powers, such as aquatic traversal or being able to scale mountains. By progressing through the Path of Legends storyline and defeating Titans, players can unlock new traversal abilities to explore the Paldea region further.

As one might expect, procuring the Herba Mystica from the Titans in Paldea is easier said than done in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Each boss gets progressively more challenging than the last, as players must increase the power of their pocket monster roster to take down these colossal beasts. First is the Stony Cliff Titan: Klawf, a Level 16 Titan located slightly east of the South Province (Area Three) Watchtower. Defeating this boss will grant players the ability to Dash with their Mount Legendary, enabling them to move faster and ram trees.

Next is the Open Sky Titan: Bombirdier, a Level 19 opponent whose lair can be found up the river north of the Pokécenter in West Province (Area One). According to Game8, defeating Bombirdier unlocks the ability to swim in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. To acquire high jumping, Trainers must find and defeat the Level 28 Lurking Steel Titan: Orthworm northeast of the city of Levincia.

At Level 44, players will be able to face the Quaking Earth Titan: Great Tusk or Iron Treads, differing depending on one's game version. This Titan's Herba Mystica unlocks the ability to fly. Finally, to get Climb Mode for one's Koraidon or Miraidon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, players must take down the False Dragon Titan: Tatsugiri at Level 55, located on the small island north of Casseroya Watchtower No. 2.
