After being closed for over a year, Universal Studios Hollywood is set to reopen on April 16, 2021. Like many other amusement parks, Universal Studios had to shut down because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The Universal Orlando Resort was able to open back in June 2020, but the Hollywood location had to remain closed due to California's stricter state regulations. As more Americans began to get vaccinated, and COVID-19 deaths and infections have started to gradually go down across the country, the state of California will allow theme parks to reopen on April 1, 2021.

Now, Universal has announced that they will reopen Universal Studios Hollywood on April 16, 2021. The reopening comes with the introduction of a new ride: The Secret Life of Pets: Off The Leash!, as well as the introduction of the Indominus Rex in Jurassic World: The Ride. Initial tickets will only be available for purchase by California residents, and can be purchased online starting on April 8. Universal states that they will follow the CDC's guidelines, requiring temperature checks for guests before they enter the park, mandatory face coverings at all times, and proper social distancing practices will be enforced.

Seeing how Universal was hoping to reopen the park back in July 2020, a solid reopening plan has probably been in place for a while. Concerns about the potential spread of COVID are warranted, but it does seem like the park is doing as much as they can to keep both staff and guests safe. Hopefully, Universal Studios Hollywood's reopening goes smoothly.
