Unfortunate Spacemen is a multiplayer co-op game where players can partake in one of two roles: spaceman or monster. Spacemen are supposed to survive while completing objectives for the Company. They will collect samples, flip switches, and kill aliens as they try to escape the map. But similar to the game Deceit, one player will be selected to be the monster. Capable of shape-shifting into spacemen, the monster is supposed to prevent escape by either sabotaging the spacemen's efforts or straight-up killing them.

The achievements of this game are varied. There are achievements for participation, getting launched into space by an EME, or even just opening up The Abridged Spaceman's Guide. But one of its more esoteric achievements is the one simply titled “Dopefish”. Requiring players to find a hidden easter egg, this particular achievement can be really difficult to accomplish if one does not know where to look.

Preparation for Finding the Dopefish in Unfortunate Spacemen

First thing’s first: go to the correct map. As the name probably implies, the dopefish can be found in an aquatic environment. This means the player wants to enter a session that is being played on the H2O map, a setting that takes place in an underwater base.

Now it is just a matter of traveling the dopefish’s location. Located behind a set of rocks toward the top left portion of the map, the biggest issue is oxygen. Since the dopefish is located underwater, this means the player will most likely need to make a couple of return trips to the underwater base in order to regain their breath. In fact, it is almost guaranteed. So players shouldn't feel bad if they need to do a bit of outside scouting so they can get their bearings on where all the relevant landmarks are.

Where Is the Dopefish in Unfortunate Spacemen

Alight, but where is it really? There are several rocks outside of the base, and saying “it’s in the top left corner of the map” isn’t enough. So here are the landmarks the player needs to hit.

First, exit the base by heading toward the observation room. There should be a door located in the center of the floor that leads outside. Head toward the landing pad just outside of the brig. Also, take note of the entryway that leads back inside of the base. This is what the player will be running toward when they run low on oxygen.

See the top-left corner of the landing pad? That’s the general area the player wants to explore to find the dopefish. Look for a large set of rocks that has a bit of coral on it. The dopefish easter egg is located behind one of these rocks. Odds are heading toward even one these rocks will result in the spaceman losing a lot of oxygen, so don’t feel bad if the character needs to be rushed back to the underwater base.
