Chloe Mendoza was a star on Unexpected season 2, and it's time to catch up with the former star of a great reality TV show. When they appeared in season 2, Chloe was 16, and her boyfriend, Max Schenzel, was 18. Their relationship was fascinating to watch during the season. They also appeared in season 3, but the pressures of being young parents got to them. Like other couples who appeared on Unexpected, they split up. However, Chloe has built a new life for herself.

Being pregnant at 16 is not how most teenage girls imagine the advent of motherhood. Dreaming about motherhood typically involves imagining a fiancé, a big wedding, and then a baby. For Chloe, that is not how it all played out. When she found out she was pregnant, she felt like she had let down her mother, who had also been a teen mom. Chloe also had to deal with the stress of her mom and stepdad not approving of Max because of his substance abuse issues.

Chloe Tried To Stay With Max After Unexpected

Despite disapproval, Chloe was adamant about staying with Max. After the baby was born, she started looking for apartments close to Arizona State University so she could live with her baby girl and Max. Chloe hoped to create a stable family unit. However, this was not to be. Chloe and Max’s dream of building a happy family was ruined when Max fell off the wagon.

Chloe Got A Restraining Order On Max After Unexpected

Max began abusing substances again and even got arrested for stealing money from his friend’s mother. Chloe posted a YouTube video detailing the abuse she faced at Max’s hands, which ultimately led to their breakup. In the video, she said, “The first-ever restraining order that I got was because he slapped me,” She went on to explain that he had punched her, kicked her, and thrown a phone at her face, which left her with an injury.

Domestic violence situations can be especially hard to get out of, but Chloe was able to overcome. After the alleged abuse, she did manage to escape. Dealing with an addict is incredibly difficult, and at the time, she was only 18. Chloe even reached out to Unexpected co-star Rilah Ferrer, who was allegedly abused by her partner Anthony Vanelli. Rilah surely offered support and advice.

Max’s issues and the way they made the relationship toxic haven’t hindered her, as she managed to go to Arizona State University and pursue her degree. She worked hard to make her and Ava’s lives better. This is truly commendable, especially considering how turbulent and scary her relationship was, according to her own account. The reality TV star is focusing on raising her daughter and celebrating obtaining her degree.

Chloe is doing her duty as a good parent, while Max continuously has run-ins with the cops. If she stays focused on her baby and school, Chloe and her daughter Ava will be fine. It seems like Chloe has moved past the drama. If social media is any indication, Chloe is doing very well after her time on Unexpected.

Unexpected is available to stream on Discovery+ and TLC Go.
