We reveal whether Underwater has a post-credits scene setting up a potential sequel to this deep-sea thriller. The latest sci-fi thriller from director William Eubank (The Signal, Love) sees a team at an underwater lab try to escape and reach the surface when a mysterious earthquake endangers its structural integrity. The science fiction aspect of Underwater is introduced when the group learns it may not have been an earthquake that caused the damage, but some kind of undiscovered deep-sea creature. They'll have to walk across the ocean floor, 11,000 meters underwater, in order to have a chance of escaping to safety.

Underwater features a small, but solid cast, lead by Kristen Stewart as mechanical engineer Norah Price. She's joined in the film by Vincent Cassel, T.J. Miller, Jessica Henwick, John Gallagher Jr. and Mamoudou Athie. As seen in the Underwater movie trailers, the characters don't have much faith in their plan to walk across the ocean floor, but it's their only shot at surviving the mysterious creature threatening their underwater lab.

Those checking out Underwater in theaters may be wondering if they need to stick around for any end-credits scenes or other extras at the very end of the film. Underwater does NOT have a post credits scene. While the credits are always worth watching to see who was involved in the making of a movie, audiences seeing Underwater shouldn't expect any extra scenes after the credits.

Though Underwater may not have a post-credits scene setting up a sequel to Eubank's deep-sea sci-fi thriller, that doesn't mean this world can't be revisited in a potential follow-up. Without spoiling the ending of Underwater, it can be noted there's certainly some sequel setup in the movie, before the credits even roll. As such, if this particular underwater horror movie is successful enough, then perhaps the story can continue - in some form - in a follow-up. After all, 2018's Meg may be getting a sequel. Even if the movies don't have much in common beyond their underwater settings, it proves there's an audience for good deep-sea thrillers.

Of course, Underwater will need to be a success first. As of this writing, Underwater holds a rotten 47 percent critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes. So unless Eubank's thriller can connect with casual moviegoers, any potential sequel could be dead in the water. For now, all moviegoers need to know when checking out Underwater in theaters is that there isn't a post-credits scene to stick around for. Instead, Underwater wraps up before the credits start rolling.
