A creature feature is generally a horror or sci-fi movie that involves dangerous animals or monsters. These antagonists can be natural or otherwise, and they are almost always beyond human's control. Their very existence threatens mankind.

The creature feature has endured for decades, and there appears to be no slowing down. Amazon's Prime Video service so happens to house a number of these movies, but this list will only go after the underrated ones. Each and every of them is streaming right now on Prime, too.

The Bone Snatcher (2003)

This low-budget creature feature is notable for its special effects. When miners mysteriously disappear in the Namib Desert in South Africa, a team is deployed to find them.

What the researchers discover, though, is nothing known to man or modern science. Awaiting them in the desolate desert is an ancient monster referred to by the locals as Esikhulu.

Sector 7 (2011)

A primordial creature awaits to be discovered at a deep-sea oil rig off the coast of Jeju Island. Since there's no oil to be tapped, someone then decides to use the rig to breed and nurture an unknown lifeform.

When the deadly specimen breaks free, though, the skeleton crew is left stranded in the middle of the ocean with no chance of immediate escape.

From the Dark (2014)

A young, arguing couple ends up in the Irish countryside after dusk. It's not feasible to go home so they find shelter at a nearby farmhouse. They assumed the place was empty, but they were wrong.

As the couple waits out the darkness, a sinister creature comes out to prey on the unexpected guests. Will they make it through the night?

Howl (2015)

An Alpha Trax train heading for London one evening is besieged by unknown creatures from the neighboring forest. A train guard and his coworker try to protect the passengers, but the external threat becomes internal.

One by one, everyone on this late-night train ride is then attacked by a pack of bloodthirsty werewolves. The chance of survival is low in this lycanthropic slasher movie.

Beneath (2013)

Despite being told not to enter a foreboding lake, a teenager allows his friends to take a boat out. They should have listened because there's a giant, carnivorous fish lurking in the waters.

When the predator gets a taste of blood, the teens have to find a way back to shore. And, the only way to do that is to lighten their load. Loyalties are questioned in the face of danger.

Space Amoeba (1970)

The Toho-verse was expanded with a self-contained story about aliens coming to Earth. These intergalactic invaders crash on a Pacific island where they plan to take over the human race. To do so, though, they need help. And, that help comes in the form of humongous mutants: a squid named Gezora, the turtle Kamoebas, and the monster crab Ganimes.

The movie's kaijū don't appear in the Showa Godzilla films, but Kamoebas does have a cameo in Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S.

Animal (2014)

A group of close friends venture into the woods for some weekend fun, but they're quickly preyed on by an unusual yet ferocious creature. They seek refuge in a cabin where they then find other people hiding from the beast.

As they try to wait out the monster, the friends' relationships start to come undone because of all the tension and exposed betrayals. If they want to escape this nightmare, though, they'll have put their differences aside.

Long Weekend (1978)

In this Australian horror movie, a couple goes on an isolated camping trip by the beach. As beautiful as their surroundings are, the man and woman are disrespectful. Not only do they litter, they hurt the animals. Ultimately, nature decides to strike back.

Jamie Blanks, the director of Urban Legend and Valentine, directed a remake also called Long Weekend (or Nature's Grave) in 2008.

The Relic (1997)

A great find in the South American Amazon forest leads to the rebirth of a primeval god. Loosely based on the novel by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child, The Relic follows what happens when the aforesaid object ends up at a Chicago museum. At the said museum, a curious researcher looks into the lab's latest acquisition. What she finds is shocking.

Finally, the object gives birth to a horrible chimera that goes on a rampage at the museum's gala.

Abominable (2006)

A man's life is changed forever after a terrible accident. Widowed and confined to a wheelchair, he has to find a way to move on. With the help of a therapist, the man returns to the place where his trauma happened. He's staying in a cabin in the woods when a group of women show up at the house next door. Little do they know, though, something is watching them from the woods.

Their neighbor spends his time trying to warn the women of the creature, but in his current condition, he can only do so much. Time is of the essence as the territorial monster has now found its way into the women's house.
