A reboot of Steven Seagal’s 1992 action film, Under Siege, is currently in development at HBO Max. The original feature was helmed by Andrew Davis, from a script penned by J.F. Lawton. Seagal starred in the movie as the former Navy SEAL, Casey Ryback, who stands as the only line of defense against a group of terrorist mercenaries when they assume control of the U.S. battleship, Missouri. The 69-year-old actor and martial artist worked on a number of well-known action titles during the 1990s, including Hard To Kill, On Deadly Ground, Executive Decision, and The Patriot.

Now, according to a report by Deadline, Warner Bros. is working on a reboot of Seagal’s 1992 hit. Inspiration for the remake supposedly stemmed from a pitch by Umair Aleem (Kate) and Timo Tjahjanto (The Night Comes For Us), who will write and direct respectively. The film is also planning to release on HBO Max. Whether Seagal or other former cast mates will have any involvement in the new project is yet to be revealed.
