Uncharted star Tom Holland gets his face superimposed on an action figure from the games. Uncharted is an adaptation of the video game series of the same name, with Holland starring alongside Mark Wahlberg and Antonio Banderas. The film has grossed over $235 million at the box office and will be the first of a franchise according to distributor Sony, with the chairman of Sony Pictures describing the film as such.

Uncharted follows Nathan Drake (Holland,) a young thief on the search for the fabled treasure of the Magellan expedition alongside his mentor Victor Sullivan (Wahlberg.) The film was stalled in development hell since 2008 and was finally able to begin production in 2020 under Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer. Despite the box office success, Uncharted has received mixed reviews from critics with many citing its dated story and weak writing.

On Instagram, The Bat Collector posted an edit of Holland's face superimposed on an action figure of Drake. The figure is a more game-accurate depiction of Drake, with the artist saying he originally photographed it before the film came out, reflecting Drake's original design from the games. The background features a jungle environment with a decapitated head on a pike, most reminiscent of the first game Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. Check it out below:

Fan response to Uncharted has been strong, with many others making art and doing cosplay based on the film's design. Uncharted also includes some dangling plot threads that can fuel the sequel, such as characters from the games that are hinted at but don't appear in a major capacity, such as Drake's brother Sam, and another love interest, Elena. Fleischer himself has indicated his desire to make a sequel, in particular wanting to recreate a car chase sequence from Uncharted 4: A Thief's End in live-action.

Despite audience support, it's questionable whether Uncharted will improve with a larger franchise. The games had the benefit of developing graphics technology and polishing game mechanics to enhance their scope and narratives, something Uncharted the film doesn't have on a non-interactive medium. Many have cited Uncharted the movie as derivative of past action films due to this fact, with the game's exciting shooting and puzzle elements helping it get past the formula of its stories. Still, it's clear that Uncharted and its star Holland are primed for another film that could potentially take the franchise to new heights.
