The Last of Us Part I has just been remastered, and in the new version of the game, fans think there are hints as to what developer Naughty Dog's next game might be. Fans have found hidden images of unicorns, and that has led to the theory that the developer is working on a fantasy game, which has left some Uncharted fans disappointed.

It has been years since the last Uncharted game, and players want nothing more than to revisit the series' rich world. Even though the stroy was wrapped up nicely, with Nate enjoying as happy an ending as one could have hoped for, gamers have some fascinating ideas as to how the series can continue.

Sam And Nadine Could Be At The Center Of A New Uncharted Game

Nathan and Sam vs Nadine in Uncharted 4

Sam and Nadine are a strange choice of characters to couple up for the next game, as they didn't necessarily have any major scenes together. But OlleyfromIndy thinks they'd make a perfect on-screen duo, noting, "The banter between them in Lost legacy was great. By far the funniest lines in the game. I could see a more comedic game with the two of them stuck together, with Sully and Chloe as supporting characters."

Though a few one-liners aren't enough to base an entire game on, their starring roles would at least lead to new and refreshing gameplay. As Nadine is the best fighter in the Uncharted series, there could be more of a focus on melee and combat mechanics, which is something that was severely lacking in the franchise.

Gamers Could Play As Multiple Characters In The Next Uncharted Game

Even though there's a huge range of unique and entertaining characters in the franchise, except for Sam's prison escape, they were underutilized when it came to actual gameplay. Between Sully, Chloe Frazer, and Charlie Cutter all having their own specific skills, they could have made great playable characters. And Narttu wants to fix that with Uncharted 5.

The Redditor wants to see "Chloe as the main character, but it would be cool to have sections where you could play as Nadine and Sam as well. Especially Nadine because of how capable she's supposed to be." That'd not only add to the gameplay and the story, but it could mean that gamers could play a co-op mode where they play through the campaign together. And it'd make for more interesting puzzle-solving too.

Cassie Could Be The Main Character Of A New Uncharted Game

Cassie in Uncharted 4

The end of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End interestingly subverted expectations, as it cut to over a decade later and players controlled Cassie, Drake's daughter, as she walks around the beach house looking at tons of old artifacts and photos. While it was in no way an open ending and everything was wrapped up perfectly, it did hint at Cassic becoming an adventurer too.

LegendaryPace thinks that the next Uncharted game should follow Drake's offspring as the main character. The Redditor notes, "There’s definitely a lot of ways the story could go, even without Nate. Lost Legacy was so good, a full game with Cassie would be amazing." While it's hard to see Cassie as the same mass murderer that her father was, her as the lead is the logical next step.

Naughty Dog Could Make Uncharted: Lost Legacy 2

Chloe and Nadine look out at the Western Ghats of India in Uncharted: The Lost Legacy

Though fans debate whether or not a non-Drake-based Uncharted game is a good idea, there has already been one. Uncharted: Lost Legacy was more of a truncated release that quickly followed Uncharted 4, and it saw Nadine and Chloe in the main roles, and it proved that the series doesn't need Drake.

Heterodino thinks that a Lost Legacy 2 is a viable option, commenting, "I would love to have a second game, and think Nate should only be in future games as a cameo or reference." Lost Legacy 2 would be another chance to make Nadine playable. Even though she had a pivotal role in the first Lost Legacy, she wasn't playable and was more like the Sully to Chloe's Nate.

There Could Be A Sully-Based Uncharted Prequel

Tom Holland Wants Jake Gyllenhaal or Chris Pratt For Sully in Uncharted

Fans have already seen Sully in the past, as a flashback sequence in Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception showed fans how Sully and Drake first met. But Stefi_00 thinks the series should go even further back in time when Sully was in his prime.

The Redditor pitches, "Maybe in the 80s with Sully as the main character." As developer Naughty Dog is one of the best at creating detailed locations, it'd be great to see how they'd portray exotic locations across the world in the 1980s. And playing as a dirtier and more ambitious cigar-smoking Sully could make for a more entertaining lead character than Drake.

A New Uncharted Game Could Feature The Return Of Charlie Cutter

Charlie Cutter was introduced in the backend of the series in Uncharted 3, but from the very first moment he was introduced, fans felt like they had known him as long as Chloe or even Drake. The cockney meathead is so hilarious and a fan favorite that it was a huge mistake not to bring him back for the fourth game, making Charlie a totally wasted character in the franchise.

But Clown_shoes1 thinks balance can be restored by bringing him back in another game. The Redditor posits, "It may be unpopular but Cutter is my favorite character in the games! Really hope they utilize him in any future productions!" He might not make for a great lead character, but being put in a Sully-like supporting role could work perfectly.

A New Uncharted Game Could Draw Inspiration From The Uncharted Movie

The recently released movie adaptation has been slammed by both critics and fans of the franchise. It's completely unfaithful to the video game series in its depiction of the characters, and it has been turned into a cookie-cutter adventure flick. However, some fans love the 2022 movie, and CroyniceBlue thinks that the video game franchise could even be influenced by it.

The Redditor explains, "They could be searching for Ferdinand Magellan's treasure. I know the movie did it, but the game can make the idea better." The movie picked and chose which things to adapt from the games, making it a sort-of greatest hits of set pieces, but the adventure was never told in the video game series. It could potentially make a great premise for an Uncharted game providing Naughty Dog ignores everything else about the film.

There Could Be A PlayStation 5 Remake Of Uncharted: Golden Abyss

Uncharted Golden Abyss

Just as remakes are incredibly popular in the movie industry, remaking older video games has become a popular trend in the gaming industry too. The only difference is that most video game remakes are vast improvements on the originals, as developers make the graphics and gaming mechanics so much better. Serious-Macaroon8981 thinks the next step in the Uncharted franchise is to remake Uncharted: Golden Abyss, which was originally a handheld game, for consoles.

The Redditor notes, "If Sony gives them permission for it, they'll create a great game, by changing the game largely, mainly in the gameplay department, keeping the story and characters the same." Golden Abyss's story is just as solid as any of the other games, but many didn't get to play it because of the platform it was made for. A Golden Abyss remake could satisfy fans without tarnishing Uncharted's legacy.

There Could Be An Uncharted/Tomb Raider Crossover

Tomb Raider reboot looking for female director

Uncharted and the Tomb Raider franchise have always been pitted against each other because of how similar they are. Almost the only difference is the main characters' gender. That's why Sushithighs thinks that a crossover could be the perfect next step, explaining, "My ultimate dream game is Nathan Drake and Laura Croft meeting." Though having two characters with very similar skill sets wouldn't necessarily be that exciting, a Tomb Raider/Uncharted crossover could see the two characters as enemies as they race to find a particular artifact first.

Gamers could even choose which character to play, and based on that choice, the perception of who is the bad guy and who is the good guy could be completely different. There are tons of possibilities for a crossover, but given how the two properties belong to different developers, it's extremely unlikely.

A New Uncharted Game Could Be A Prequel About Evelyn

Evelyn in Uncharted 4

In a flashback in A Thief's End, a very young Sam and Nate break into a huge mansion full of centuries-old artifacts and books, which belong to an old woman called Evelyn. There's a lot of mystery surrounding Evelyn, and not much is known about her only that she was an explorer and that Sam and Nate's mother worked for her.

Skylinneas thinks outside the box, pitching a prequel about Evelyn. The Redditor posits, "A potential period storyline with us playing as Evelyn, the old dying lady that Nate and Sam met in her mansion in a flashback, who's often regarded by fans as someone pretty similar to an aged classic Lara Croft."
