Tom Holland calls Uncharted's action sequences the biggest he's ever been a part of. The actor best known for playing Spider-Man in the MCU has some major projects coming up, from the awards hopeful Cherry to the long-awaited Chaos Walking. However, it's Uncharted that has really been a long time coming. Holland was first cast to play a younger Nathan Drake in 2017, though the video game adaptation had been in the works for years beforehand. Even once Holland was onboard, Uncharted took a great deal of time to get moving.

It finally looked like the film was making positive progress last year, as it finally started and completed production over the summer. Uncharted was set for release in July of this year, but as the coronavirus pandemic continues to disrupt movie scheduling, it was bumped again. Currently, Uncharted is slated for February 2022, nearly one year from now. This means fans will have to wait even longer to finally see some footage from the project, though they were treated to several first look images during filming.

Holland made an appearance on Variety's Awards Circuit podcast recently to discuss everything from Cherry to Spider-Man 3 to, yes, Uncharted. In regards to the video game flick, Holland expressed his enthusiasm for the project and spoke of how he's tried to get it made for years now. He also touched upon the action sequences within the movie, calling them the "biggest action sequences I've ever been a part of." He added, "The cuts and bruises and bangs I got from dangling off of wires and falling off of things was ridiculous."

Tom Holland Uncharted

For someone who has been a part of the MCU and several of its epic action pieces, this is quite a bold statement. It does seem to bode well for Uncharted that its action scenes can rival those of Marvel, and it also suggests that video game fans will be pleased by how thrilling it all is. There's been some apprehension from people who question the idea of making Uncharted a prequel, but it sounds like director Ruben Fleischer has worked to maintain the same level of action for the movie, even if it's set well before the games.

Unfortunately, it will still be some time before audiences actually get to glimpse some of these awe-inspiring sequences. With Uncharted now scheduled a year from now, it seems unlikely that Sony will release a trailer any time soon. The studio might take pity on fans and unveil something early, but for now, the wait continues. Holland's comments, while exciting, must only make fans more impatient to finally see Uncharted come to life. Hopefully 2022 really will be the year it makes its way out into the world.
