The Uncharted movie has reportedly tabbed Star Trek stuntman Ben Hernandez Bray to be its stunt coordinator. The Tom Holland-starring adaptation of the popular video game franchise remains in the pre-production phase, with Stranger Things producer/director Shawn Levy attached to direct. The film will follow the Indiana Jones-like adventures of young Nathan Drake, as he becomes a treasure hunter and seeks out precious artifacts.

Holland is going to be quite busy in 2018, with shooting for Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 expected to start in the summer and wrap up sometime in the fall or winter. The actor has two other projects lined up for release in 2019, which could potentially  end up pushing Uncharted all the way to the end of that year or beyond. Still, the film's producers are clearly working on assembling a strong production team, as evidenced by the news that they've brought Bray aboard.

Omega Underground first reported Bray's hire on Monday. However, the report added that Sony still hasn't revealed any kind of production dates for the movie. Bray is also the stunt coordinator for the Jason Momoa-starring reboot The Crow Reborn, but that project is also in the pre-production phase. He's also tentatively attached to coordinate stunts for the Will Smith and Martin Lawrence-starring sequel Bad Boys For Life, should that delayed project ever get off the ground.

Tom Holland Nathan Drake Uncharted

Bray has built a prolific career as a stuntman and stunt coordinator in both film and TV, with over 100 credits to his name. Since performing stunts in J.J. Abrams' Star Trek in 2009, he's worked as a stunt coordinator for Jack Reacher, The Grey, Out of the Furnace, and the popular NBC series The Blacklist. He's also a frequent collaborator of director David O'Russell, having done the stunts for American Hustle, Silver Linings Playbook, and The Fighter.

Levy will certainly be in good hands with the experienced Bray coordinating stunts for the Uncharted movie. Many of Bray's stunt credits are for action movies with plenty of gun battles, which should be a good fit for Nathan Drake's shooting skills and frequent fighting with bad guys. Like March's Tomb Raider reboot with Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft, Uncharted will surely feature plenty of solo stunts to perform for Holland. Whoever stands in for the star will have his hands full.

Since the Uncharted movie is still a long way off from the production phase, it's difficult to gauge how the project is coming together at this point. However, the most important parts of the cast and crew are definitely coming together, and Bray will have plenty of time to work with Levy to configure what will likely be an abundance of stunt work. The biggest thing is side-stepping the "curse" that has plagued video game adaptations for decades.
