Tom Holland officially wraps filming on his long-awaited Uncharted movie tomorrow. Despite being based on a very popular and beloved video game, Uncharted has endured a lengthy development process. The film itself has been in the works since 2008, and over the years it's gone through a slew of potential directors. Holland was cast as a young Nathan Drake in 2017, and Venom's Ruben Fleischer signed on as director earlier this year. Even when things appeared to go right, however, Uncharted was struck with a few more coronavirus-related obstacles. Sony was forced to delay Uncharted yet again; the film is currently scheduled for release on July 16, 2021. This time, it just might stick.

That's largely because production has been underway since July, and it hasn't faced any major setbacks. This Uncharted will be a prequel focusing on Drake's origin story; the games themselves focus on an adult Drake's adventures as an Indiana Jones-esque adventurer. Mark Walberg will star alongside Holland as Victor "Sully" Sullivan, Drake's future mentor. Fans have been granted some peeks at Holland and Walberg in character, further cementing the fact that this time, Uncharted really is coming.

Uncharted is set to wrap filming tomorrow, per Holland himself. The actor shared a photo of him and costumer Anthony Drewett on social media and confirmed there's only a little bit of time left on the project. "Last two days of shooting and it's all love and smiles," wrote Holland. Based on the timing of the post, it looks like Uncharted will wrap sometime on Friday. You can see Holland's post down below.

The timing for Uncharted's finish is perfect, as Holland is set to jump right into production on Spider-Man 3. There have been rumblings of Spider-Man 3 preparing to begin work, and soon Holland will be free to embark on his latest MCU outing. At the current moment, Holland has three major films on the way for 2021, with the equally-long-awaited Chaos Walking taking up the third slot. In short, the actor is about to have a very busy year.

Along with Uncharted winding down, Holland shared the very first official image of him in costume as Drake earlier on Thursday, igniting excitement across the internet. There's been some apprehension among game fans about making Uncharted a prequel, but there's a chance they can be won over when they actually see the film come to life. With filming wrapping tomorrow, more official looks will likely emerge in the coming months, culminating in a trailer. Only then will fans truly see whether this Uncharted is a worthy adaptation or not.
