Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End contains a plethora of puzzles including the Zodiac symbols puzzle in Chapter 2. Players find themselves trapped and must use the environment to escape their captors. Once players deconstruct their environment and get their bearings, the Zodiac symbols puzzle becomes abundantly clear. Before solving the Zodiac symbols puzzle, players must first reach Chapter 2: Infernal Place.
Players begin Chapter 2 inside of a prison, where Nathan Drake is fighting another prisoner. After guards break up the fight, players are eventually led to an outdoor portion of Chapter 2. Next, players accomplish a series of platforming sections before reaching Burn’s cell. Players must climb into the window of Burn’s cell, where they will find symbols carved all over the walls. These symbols are arranged using a cypher that must be decoded to progress, similar to the Wheel of Founders puzzle.
The symbols carved on the walls consist of Zodiac symbols and roman numerals. These symbols hold the key to solving the Zodiac symbol puzzle in Uncharted 4. Earlier in the game, players received a note from Vargas. This note previously seemed to contain random symbols, but now it is apparent they can be matched up to the Zodiac symbol puzzle. Players must force Nathan to make a mental connection between Vargas’ note and the symbols on the walls.
Solving The Zodiac Symbol Puzzle In Chapter 2 Of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
First, players must head to the corner of the cell closest to the door. Players will get the option to examine the sun and moon symbols tucked away in the corner. Examine these symbols and Nathan will comment on the sun and moon being the alchemy symbols for gold and silver. Players will then get an option to press the touchpad and look at the note from Vargas acquired earlier in Uncharted 4. Thankfully, only symbols are needed; no light is involved in this puzzle like the Bucket & Cross Trial puzzle. The front of the note has a sun symbol drawn on the top left corner, with a half-drawn set of symbols on the upper righthand corner. Players must flip the note to reveal another set of half-drawn symbols on the other side.
Once players flip the note back to the front side, they will get a button prompt to fold the note. The flipped note reveals the Sagittarius and Scorpio Zodiac signs in the upper right corner. On the wall to the right of the sun and moon symbol is a Sagittarius symbol, which correlates to the roman numeral X. On the wall to the left of the sun and moon symbol is a Scorpio symbol, which correlates to the roman numeral II. Under the compass carved into the back wall is a stone plastered with the roman numeral XII. Pull out the stone to reveal a piece of treasure in the form of a crucifix.
