Uncharted 4 Fan Film Translates Gameplay Into Live-Action

Uncharted 4 Multiplayer

Following the release of the latest and final entry featuring action-adventurer Nathan Drake in the best-selling video game franchise, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End  has fast become one of the highest reviewed titles in recent memory. Based on the character and world created by developer Naughty Dog and published exclusively by Sony Computer Entertainment, the Uncharted franchise has become something of a powerhouse hit and fan favorite among PlayStation gamers the world over.

Following after Naughty Dog's last critically acclaimed video game release The Last of UsUncharted 4 has quickly become a favorite among Nathan Drake's most fervent acolytes. Despite various setbacks that occurred behind the scenes in the making of the new game, A Thief's End is quickly becoming another must-play title for gamers in 2016, a fact that can be seen in the latest fan film that pays loving tribute to the best-selling franchise.

In the video featured above from independent YouTube channel Freakin Rad, the latest iteration of Nathan Drake is given a fully realized live-action treatment, with just over three minutes of filmed footage using real-life actors. Capturing much of the aesthetic style and platforming progression from the video game proper, the crew behind this particular fan film have delivered something truly in keeping with the spirit of the characters and world created by Naughty Dog.

It would be equally interesting to see the likes of Nathan Drake voice actor Nolan North try his hand at acting in a feature film adaptation of the Uncharted franchise, though for now this fan film will stand as an example of what such a movie might look like. With any luck maybe some studio head will take notice of this particular fan film, and a big budget movie featuring everyone's favorite globe-trotting treasure hunter might just become an actuality in the near future.

Following the theatrical release of the largely panned Ratchet and Clank  at the end of last month, and with the premiere of Warcraft and Assassin's Creed yet to come, it still remains to be seen if there is significant interest in seeing major video game properties adapted for the big screen. Either way, Nathan Drake couldn't look any cooler than he does already in the above live-action fan film, and if things play out well enough for the latter mentioned features perhaps an Uncharted movie might just happen sometime over the next couple of years.
