Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 4 Part 2: When The Show Returns

advertising

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt season 4 recently arrived on Netflix, but only one half of the season is currently available. You'll have to wait until January 25, 2019 to watch season 4, part 2, and find out what that mysterious cliffhanger was all about. It's quite uncommon for Netflix shows to get a hiatus like this, since seasons are usually released all in one go, but Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt season 4 was split into two halves so that co-creator Tina Fey could work on the Mean Girls musical.

Though it might be frustrating to have to wait for the second half of the season, the break at least gives Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt fans a little more time before they have to say goodbye to the show, as season 4 will be its last. There have reportedly been talks of a movie to follow season 4, which would wrap everything up, but it's not guaranteed at the moment.

Though Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is known for its quirky and frequently surreal comedy (like the fact that it's set in a world where rich people travel everywhere by blimp), there are a few ongoing story threads that need wrapping up. For starters, thanks to the efforts of the young and naive DJ Fingablast, there's a danger that Kimmy's nemesis/husband Reverend Richard Wayne Gary Wayne could be released from prison. Then there's the simmering matter of Titus' sexual harassment by the puppet Mr. Frumpus when he went to audition for Sesame Street - Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt's own take on the recent scandals that have rocked Hollywood - which is likely linked to that sinister mid-season cliffhanger.

Things seem to be going pretty well for the gang at the end of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt season 4, episode 6, "Kimmy Meets an Old Friend!" - but just as Kimmy and co. are getting ready to eat their "We're Doing Real Fudging Whale" cake, things take a turn for the sinister. The camera moves back to reveal that someone outside the apartment is taking photos, and this mysterious someone then says "I have eyes on the target. Moving to Phase Two." According to the end credits, this Mysterious Man is voiced by none other than Jon Bernthal, who plays Frank Castle a.k.a. The Punisher elsewhere on Netflix.

The crowd gathered in the apartment when the Mysterious Man makes the call consists of Kimmy, Titus, Jacqueline and Lillian, so theoretically any one of them could be the target. Lillian has her share of skeletons in the closet (which may or may not belong to her deceased husband, Roland), and Jacqueline could also be in the firing line. However, given that we saw Mr. Frumpus paying someone off at the end of the season's first episode, the most likely explanation is that someone is trying to shut Titus up before he can talk about what happened at his Sesame Street audition.

Will everyone make it out of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt season 4 alive? We'll have to wait another eight months to find out!
