Netflix's Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is the feel-good tale of a young woman (Kimmy) overcoming adversity.  After being freed from an underground cult for 15 years, a now-adult Kimmy had to learn how to adjust to present-day society and get back the time she lost. Along the way, we meet characters that help round out Kimmy's new future and bring positivity back into her life. But as always, there were more than a handful of bad eggs thrown Kimmy's way.

Over the course of four seasons, we're taking a look back at 10 of the most hated characters in the Tina Fey-created hit.

ORSON SNYDER

In the Season 2 finale "Kimmy Finds Her Mom," Jacqueline White finally meets her new boyfriend's family, and they weren't exactly who she had in mind. Her future brother-in-law was loud and obnoxious but her soon-to-be-father-in-law, Orson, was even worse.

Orson picked on his son Russ incessantly and was an owner of the Washington Redskins, a team in the NFL who stands by their controversial name. When Orson was confronted about changing the name — as it was upsetting to an entire culture — he laughed about it.

RICHARD WAYNE GARY WAYNE

Reverend Richard Wayne Gary Wayne is probably the most controversial character in the entire series. Had it not been for him and his mentally abusive cult, the lives of the Indiana Mole Women wouldn't have been taken from them for all those years. Even after Kimmy escaped the cult, she could never fully flee from the reverend. She would one day have to go against him in court, and she even had to go through the process of getting divorced from him (even though she didn't realize they were married). The man is a con-artist and a kidnapper — someone who shouldn't have ever been allowed to leave prison.

RAY-RAY

In the first two episodes of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, we learn that Titus is a street performer. Due to copyright infringement, he's not allowed to say he's dressed as Iron Man but his suit is nearly identical.

Nevertheless, when Titus is in the need for some money, he decides to hand his suit back to Ray Ray so he can get his deposit back but Ray Ray refuses to return his money because the suit was "damaged." As it turns out, Ray Ray was scamming more people than just Titus, and it took a group of funny-dressed adults to threaten Ray Ray out of business.

LORI-ANN SCHMIDT

At the end of Season 2, Kimmy decides it's time to find her mother. After creeping Facebook, she learns her mother is in Orlando, so Kimmy and Titus take a road trip to find her. Kimmy and Lori-Ann had a lot to talk about and a bag of emotions to unpack but it was time. Sadly, whenever Kimmy tried to bring up her qualms with her mother, she wrote them off and made up an excuse. Lori-Ann wasn't a bad person by any means but she traumatized Kimmy for abandoning her when she disappeared.

While the women had a nice time at Disney World, the end of the trip unraveled baggage from their past that proved Lori-Ann was not a nice woman.

SIMONE

Xanthippe is the 15-year-old step-daughter of Jacqueline. Growing up in a wealthy family in New York City, Xanthippe is a brat, and hangs out with fellow spoiled kids who act much older than they really are. And while Xanthippe was a handful, her friend Simone was even worse. Simone was rude, entitled, and not a good friend to Xanthippe.

Xan may have been crass at times but she only acted this way to be cool in front of Simone and their friends. In fact, when we first meet Simone, she was so drunk she was throwing up in Xanthippe's kitchen. Xan could have called Simone's boyfriend to help her but he was on vacation with his wife...

JULIAN VOORHEES

Jacqueline's ex-husband Julian was a real piece of work. He worked a lot and was never at home to spend time with his wife and kids. He always extended his business trips and missed important moments in their lives (even though the kids didn't seem to care so much) without so much as an apology. Jacqueline may be money-hungry but she did love Julian until his absence was too much to be ignored. When she tried to make it work with her husband, she realized he was having an affair with their therapist. This made her decision to divorce him easier than before.

SHEBA GOODMAN

Sheba was Artie Goodman's daughter. Artie and Jillian had a brief — but deep — relationship that hit her hard when he passed away. Sheba, on the other hand, didn't seem to care about her father's passing. She gave Lilian the wrong time to her father's memorial on purpose to escape her grip so she could grab hold of the trust fund left by her father. In short, she was an addict who was a wolf in sheep's clothing.

BIG PHARMA

In the episode "Kimmy Learns About the Weather," Titus comes across a cartoon character that looks and sounds exactly like him. However, he never auditioned for that role or was paid for it. As it turns out, Big Pharma paid a man to do an impression of Titus for their character to save money. They ended up owning Titus' entire outward persona, putting him in a downward spiral in his career until he came up with his next plan.

MR. LEFKOWITZ

With Kimmy being in a bomb shelter for 15 years, she missed out on instrumental years of school. Now that she's freed, she decided to go back and get her GED. But that was easier said than done. Her GED teacher, Mr. Lefkowitz, had no will to teach. He simply showed up because he was a tenured professor but didn't care whether the students passed, failed, or even learned anything. This deeply upset Kimmy because she saw education as a privilege and wanted to learn more about the world instead of watching movies. It was later discovered that Mr. Lefkowitz was somewhat of a bully and ruined another student's life.

CORIOLANUS BURT

Titus may be a dramatic man with multiple grudges, but his on-going battle with Coriolanus Burt is valid. Coriolanus stole multiple career opportunities and made Titus feel like less of a performer. The irony is that Coriolanus' career wasn't that much better than Titus'. No one was made for stardom quite like Titus was, making Coriolanus fun to hate for four seasons.
