Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 3 Trailer: Kimmy Goes To College

Ellie Kemper in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

Netflix has released a new trailer for the upcoming season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, which you can watch above. After over a year off our screens, Ellie Kemper is back as cheerful red-head Kimmy Schmidt. Airing on streaming platform, the show's third season is due for release on May 19, 2017 and it looks like the colorful cult member is finally settling into her new life.

Following Kemper's continuing adventures as the titular Kimmy, it looks like the rest of the gang are back for more madness and singalongs too. Season 3 of the show looks like it will continue standout performances from Titus Burgess, Jane Krakowski, and Carol Kane. Picking up where Season 2 left off, Kimmy has completed her GED and is now looking ahead to college and a possible new love interest.

The highly bingeable comedy focuses of Kemper's Kimmy, a disillusioned country girl with a chipper view on the state of the world. After spending 20 years locked in an underground bunker thanks to Jon Hamm's Reverand Richard Wayne Gary Wayne, Kimmy finds herself in the roughest neighborhood of New York and befriending a madcap group of social outcasts. In the mix are dramatic actor Titus Andromedon (Burgess) who is rife for his own spinoff, Krakowski's over-privileged Jacqueline, and crazy cat lady/landlady Lillian (Kane).

Highlights of the two-minute teaser include the return of the Reverand sporting an orange boiler suit behind bars, the defiant Xanthippe Lannister Voorhees, and a closer look at Titus' latest musical parody - this time it is Beyonce's Lemonade rife for the spoofing.

As usual, Burgess is the star of the trailer and looks like to be on top comedy form once again this season. There is also the strange relationship between Lillian and her proposed serial killer boyfriend (based on Robert Durst), and Kimmy still battling with the opposite sex. Sadly, the main theme seems to be that as well as growing up, people are moving on, meaning that it doesn't look good for any of the romantic entanglements for our main stars.

Created by 30 Rock duo Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, it is no surprise that you may recognize a few familiar faces from other kooky comedies. Eagle-eyed viewers will also spot cameos from Daveed Diggs and Josh Charles in the trailer, both of whom will be joining this season's notable guest-stars like Laura Dern and Maya Rudolph.

It certainly looks like Kimmy is leaving behind her time under the oppressive rule of the Reverand. Knowing Kimmy though, it will all come out rainbows and sunshine, no matter what the situation. Stick up your thumbs and do your best Fonzie impression, The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is back.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt season 3 will premiere on Netflix on May 19, 2017.
