A new poster for The Umbrella Academy season 3 spotlights the Sparrow Academy in their official costumes. The Umbrella Academy follows seven children who were all born on the same day and each have a unique superpower. The cast includes Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, and Elliot Page. Meanwhile, Justin H. Min plays Ben, aka Number 6, who throughout The Umbrella Academy seasons 1 and 2 is thought to be dead. The most recent season dropped on Netflix back in 2020, meaning there is a great deal of anticipation surrounding season 3.

The Umbrella Academy season 2 takes place in Dallas, Texas in the 1960s, where the Hargreeves siblings must once again stop an apocalypse. By the end of season 2, the family saves the world from destruction and eventually makes their way back to April 2, 2019, the day after the apocalypse from The Umbrella Academy season 1. They are initially elated to see that the Hargreeves mansion still stands and that the world is intact. However, their jumping through time brought unforeseen consequences. One of these consequences is that the mansion they stand before actually belongs to the Sparrow Academy, with a very different Ben being an alive and well member.

Now Netflix reveals official posters for The Umbrella Academy season 3 and the Sparrow Academy, showing off their costumes as they assemble in a similar fashion to the titular team. The new Sparrow Academy cast members include Justin Cornwell, Min, Britne Oldford, Jake Epstein, Genesis Rodriguez, and Cazzie David. There is also the character Christopher, a telekinetic cube whose voice actor is unannounced, and who acts as a mediator for the family. You can see both of The Umbrella Academy season 3's super teams down below.

Part of the reason that The Umbrella Academy thus far is compelling - beyond the high stakes of potential world annihilation and time travel - is that the Hargreeves siblings are not one big happy superhero family. Each character has unique relationships to every other family member, and these changing dynamics are part of what makes viewers want to continue watching. Now with the addition of the Sparrow Academy in the same house, these dynamics are surely to be shaken up. This can offer The Umbrella Academy season 3 the opportunity for even more family tension, and hopefully some resolution as well.

Viewers can anticipate seeing what powers each Sparrow Academy member has, as well as whether these powers may be in some way connected to their Umbrella Academy counterparts in season 3. If the powers of the same-numbered characters between each family are related or even identical, the dynamics of each member and their counterpart may present an opportunity for a power struggle. However, the presence of a personal counterpart may also present the opportunity for a deepening of familial relationships and understanding of oneself and each other. This, along with how the two families react to facing additional external crises, will be uncovered once The Umbrella Academy season 3 premieres on Netflix next month.
