Elliot Page has posted a set photo confirming filming on The Umbrella Academy season 3 has begun and teased the new Sparrow Academy villains. Page plays Vanya, one of seven children raised by eccentric billionaire Reginald Hargreeves (Com Feore), to be superheroes-for-hire. The rest of the ensemble cast includes Aidan Gallagher (Number Five), Robert Sheehan (Klaus), Tom Hopper (Luther), Emmy Raver-Lampman (Allison), David Castaneda (Diego), and Justin H. Min (Ben). The show has been a big hit for Netflix, leading to The Umbrella Academy cast securing a significant pay raise ahead of season 3.

Season 3 will bring a heftier salary for the existing cast members and add several new cast, in the form of the Sparrow Academy introduced in The Umbrella Academy season 2 finale. The season 2 ending revealed the original seven Hargreeves children have traveled in time to an alternate timeline where Reginald and Ben are still alive. In this new timeline, Ben leads a different group of super-powered children, called the Sparrow Academy. The season 3 villains were cast in January and revealed to be a crucial part of season 3. From the looks of it, they'll be the major obstacle in the way of The Umbrella Academy members returning to their everyday lives.

Now, Page has posted an image on Instagram confirming that he and the rest of the cast have begun filming The Umbrella Academy Season 3. The photo gives little away, as it's just a shot of the backrest of the cast member's on-set chair. It does reveal, though, that the Sparrow logo has been added to the show's familiar Umbrella logo for season 3, once again teasing the importance of the new superhero crew. Page's caption confirmed his excitement for the new season, saying, "Omg, we’re back again ☂." You can see the Instagram post below:

With filming underway, fans will be hopeful that they'll get to see The Umbrella Academy season 3 debut by the end of 2021. Season 2 was released in summer 2020, after season 1 debuted in February 2019. That would put season 3 on track for a November or December 2021 debut, though the coronavirus pandemic might have pushed it back to 2022. Regardless of its debut, the Sparrow's inclusion in the show's logo is exciting, proving that the new villains will be a significant part of the show's new season.

Just who they are and why they replaced The Umbrella Academy in this new timeline is unclear, though, meaning season 3 will reveal several plot twists and secrets. The assumption is that the Sparrows must be part of the 43 children who were all miraculously born on the same day, but could the show throw another twist in there that reveals their true origins, thus changing everything for the original seven? Whatever happens, it's unlikely to be dull.
