It's hard to argue the success of Netflix's adaptation of The Umbrella Academy. The bizarre and wacky comic from Gerard Way, Gabriel Ba, and Dark Horse Comics has become a perfect fit for the streaming service. However, there have been some elements from the abstract comic series that would naturally be hard for a streaming series (with a series' level budget) to pull off. However, there is one moment that has to come up some point, as it's too wild to not have on the show: the Umbrella Academy's debut mission in Paris - although, it makes sense why they haven't included it.

In the first issue of Umbrella Academy, readers are introduced to Sir Reginald Hargreeves, the Monocle, an alien posing as a wealthy innovator, entrepreneur, and scientist, who adopts 7 children out of 43 born the same day with no fathers, with each child having a different superpower. Why did Hargreeves adopt them? To save the world. However, years later the Academy children grew up and likewise grew apart. Then, after the death of Hargreeves, Number 5 returns from the future, needing to unite the Academy to prevent the end of the world. Much of the first season on Netflix follows the same story and beats, however, they ended up skipping the Academy's debut mission as child heroes: the day the Eiffel Tower went berserk.

In their very first mission, the Umbrella Academy is sent in to determine the reason why the Eiffel Tower in Paris is shooting green lasers at innocent civilians. Knocking the tower to the ground, the Academy breaks into the top of the tower to discover the evil zombie-robot Gustave Eiffel in control of his creation. When Number Two kills Eiffel, the Tower fires up its booster rockets, launching itself into space and crashing on the surface of the moon. While the Tower was lost, Paris was saved, meaning the children get the key to the city and get one scoop of ice cream each for a job well done.

It's a very wild scene that perfectly sets the tone for the comic series going forward, though one could imagine how expensive it would have been to depict on screen, what with the Eiffel Tower turning into a massive rocket and all. However, now that the Netflix series will more than likely have a third season barring a shocking cancelation, perhaps the scene could make its way to the show via a flashback. It's already been mentioned and teased thus far with Number 3's daughter asking to hear the story about the Eiffel Tower, and a photo shown of the Academy children in Paris.

The adventure would have to be slightly reworked though, as their debut mission in the Netflix show was a bank robbery, and Number 5 was present for it. In the comics, 5 had already left for the future by the time of the Paris mission. In any case, it would be great to see such an amazing and ridiculous scene from the comics come to Netflix's Umbrella Academy in all its wacky glory in a flashback.
