Warning! Spoilers for Suicide Squad #5 ahead!

The Suicide Squad's attempt to steal a villain from Earth-3 just led to an unfortunate (and somewhat hilarious) encounter between Bloodsport and DC's most evil Superman, Ultraman. In Suicide Squad #5, Bloodsport finds himself in the unfortunate situation of being up solo against the Kryptonian villain. In a last-ditch effort to stop him, he unleashes his biggest weapon: kryptonite. Unfortunately, the material that weakens Superman boosts Ultraman.

Ahead of his debut in James Gunn's The Suicide Squad - where he'll be played by Iris Elba - Bloodsport has joined Task Force X in the comics. Originally debuting in Superman #4 (1987), Bloodsport is an excellent fighter despite having no actual superpowers. However, he does have a device allowing him to teleport weapons in and out of his hands when needed. The new comic establishes Bloodsport's past, as he successfully shot Superman with a kryptonite bullet as he became a deadly warrior after his brother's death. Bloodsport works with Task Force X to jump through the multiverse and gather intel and pluck soldiers for Amanda Waller and the Suicide Squad.

In Suicide Squad #5 from Robbie Thompson, Julio Ferreira, Eduardo Pansica, Joe Prado, Dexter Soy, and Alex Sinclair, Bloodsport ends up on Earth-3, where he's tasked with bringing in Black Siren. Wearing a new helmet that prevents his brain from being scrambled from all the multiversal travel he's done with the Suicide Squad, Bloodsport eventually catches up with the evil version of Black Canary. But, when he points his gun at her, he's picked up by Ultraman, who immediately detects he's not from their reality. Bloodsport requests and gets a "big gun" from Waller and shoots Ultraman with kryptonite to defeat him. He immediately finds out Ultraman's strength grows from Superman's biggest weakness.

Ultraman Bloodsport

Ultraman breathes in the kryptonite gas and tells Bloodsport it's his "favorite." The evil Superman uses his heat vision to remove the bomb from inside his opponent's head and knocks him out cold with a head butt. As Bloodsport lays motionless on the ground, Ultraman reveals he wants to track down Waller and get him more kryptonite. Hilariously, the Suicide Squad's biggest Superman stopper gave him even more power.

Waller's attempt to recruit Black Siren to the Suicide Squad just blew up in (and Bloodsport's) face. Ultraman is now aware Task Force X has kryptonite and considering he's addicted to getting powered-up by it, he will likely do anything - and kill anyone - to obtain more. With Bloodsport's bomb gone, Ultraman will likely use him to track down Waller and bring the pain to the Suicide Squad. It's a worst-case scenario for Waller, but she brought Evil Superman's wrath all on herself. Suicide Squad #5 is in stores now.
