A fan creates the ultimate movie trailer mashup of 2018, featuring Avengers: Infinity War, Fantastic Beasts 2, Bohemian Rhapsody, and more. For all the constant chatter about how the theatrical moviegoing experience will eventually die due to the convenience of watching movies at home, that sure hasn't happened yet, as Hollywood has managed to smash through box office records yet again this year. While it's true that some of that is due to high ticket prices, clearly most people remain interested in seeing films theatrically.

Like any other year, 2018's film landscape has had its ups and downs, hitting triumphant highs with films like Avengers: Infinity War and Black Panther, and experiencing enormous flops like Solo: A Star Wars Story and The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. Amusingly all four of those films were Disney releases. Other movies also overcame controversies to become profitable enterprises, such as the highly inaccurate Queen/Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody - which earned over $600 million worldwide to become the #1 music biopic of all time - or Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, which received mixed reviews and did only decently stateside, but cruised to a huge worldwide take.

As the end of the year draws closer, it's naturally becoming time to look back at the year that was, both the good and the bad. YouTube creator Sleepy Skunk did just that, with their annual mashup trailer that includes clips from just about every movie worth noting from 2018. Check the rather excellent compilation video out below.

Just some of the high-profile films to get face time in the above mashup trailer include Deadpool 2, A Quiet Place, The Predator, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Ready Player One, Creed II, Mission: Impossible - Fallout, Venom, Incredibles 2, Aquaman, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Ant-Man and The Wasp, and Nicolas Cage's psychedelic horror effort Mandy. The films mentioned above (Avengers: Infinity War, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Bohemian Rhapsody, Solo: A Star Wars Story, The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, and Black Panther) are also part of the mix. To run down the entire list of included films would require another complete paragraph, but one of the best moments comes with the inclusion of a monologue from indie coming-of-age drama Eighth Grade that highlights some heartwarming father-daughter bonding.

In addition to the above mashup celebrating 2018, Sleepy Skunk's YouTube channel also contains other "year-in-review" mashup trailers dating back to 2010. As good as 2018 was at the movies, 2019 looks to provide another terrific batch of choices for a mashup like this, including Avengers: Endgame, Joker, IT: Chapter Two, Toy Story 4, and of course, Star Wars: Episode IX. What a year it'll be, at movie theaters around the world.
