The newly revamped PlayStation Plus will include over 100 classic Ubisoft games thanks to Ubisoft+, which has been confirmed to be included with the subscription service. Earlier this year, Sony announced that it was relaunching its existing PlayStation Plus, believed to be so as to better compete with Microsoft's massively popular Xbox Game Pass. The new PlayStation Plus will be combined with the PlayStation Now cloud gaming service, introduce new content tiers that grant access to more content, and give fans access to older titles from the earlier PlayStation console generations. This last part has been a major selling point for this new version of PlayStation Plus, as the PS5 currently doesn't support backward compatibility for games from the PS3 era or earlier, in stark contrast to the Xbox Series X/S.

Earlier today, May 16, Sony unveiled the first line-up of games that will be available once the new PlayStation Plus goes live in June, featuring a mix of modern hits like Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut, God of War (2018), and Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales alongside classics like Syphon Filter, Tekken 2, and even Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare. Not every recent or past PlayStation title will be available on PlayStation Plus right away, as PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan confirmed in an interview that day one releases likely won't come to PS Plus.

In a press statement earlier today, Ubisoft announced that it will add Ubisoft+ to the new PlayStation Plus, giving subscribers of the latter access to over 100 Ubisoft titles - including new day one releases, classic games, and premium editions packed with extra content. Additionally, Ubisoft is launching “Ubisoft+ Classics,” which will be bundled with the upcoming PlayStation Plus Extra and PlayStation Plus Premium subscription tiers. The publisher will bring an initial list of 27 games to PS Plus - including modern titles like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Tom Clancy’s The Division, and For Honor, alongside classic gems like Child of Light, Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon, Far Cry 4, STEEP, Trials Rising, Watch Dogs and Werewolves Within. Even more titles will be added on a rolling basis, and Ubisoft states that the Ubisoft+ Classics catalog will contain 50 games by the end of 2022. Ubisoft+ Classics will be available with PlayStation Plus on May 24 in Asia (excluding Japan, where it will be added on June 2), June 13 for North and South America, and June 23 in Europe.

PlayStation’s updated PS Plus model has gained a mixed reception from players, with some excited about the idea of getting to replay retro games from the previous PlayStation console generations and others decrying PS Plus's lack of launch-day releases, and the fact that said older games will be locked behind an additional price tier. On the other hand, Sony has reassured current PS Plus subscribers that the new service will still include the PlayStation Plus Collection in every tier, featuring hit games like Bloodborne, The Last of Us Remastered, and Ratchet & Clank.

Sony seems confident that its upcoming revamp of PS Plus will be a viable competitor to Xbox Game Pass, and now Ubisoft is lending its support in the form of its new Ubisoft+ Classics collection. This growing blend of contemporary hits and old favorites will go live alongside the new PlayStation Plus next month, with new games presumably being added throughout the rest of 2022 and beyond.
