With Ubisoft beginning development on an open-world Star Wars game, speculation has immediately begun as to which era of the Galaxy Far Far Away this video game may be placed. It's very likely that fans are already familiar with the character the game could be about.

EA has already proven that audiences are willing to take on the role of brand new characters like Cal Kestis and Iden Versio, but Ubisoft may want to take a completely different approach. There are countless characters that really could lend themselves to an open world game of this style; it's really dependent on which direction Lucasfilm Games wants to take this project in.

Ahsoka Tano

Ahsoka vs Elsbeth in The Mandalorian

Ahsoka Tano fans may be thrilled about the prospect of her brand new Disney+ show, but there's so much more to this character that has yet to have been explored. Perhaps the show will fill in some of the gaps within the character's timeline.

But, a video game would finally give audiences the chance to take on the role of Anakin's former Padawan for the very first time. With unique lightsaber combat, a very specific set of values, and a legacy that ties in with much of the Star Wars universe, Ahsoka could offer a lot to Ubisoft.

The Clone Troopers

Catain Rex greets the Ghost crew as they arrive on Yavin IV in Star Wars Rebels

There's a few Clone Troopers who survived Order 66 and rebelled against the Empire. Captain Rex is one notorious soldier who ended up doing the right thing, but there's sure to be many others across the galaxy.

It would be interesting if Ubisoft explored the men underneath the iconic armor and saw how they survived in a post Jedi Empire. The Bad Batch seems to be picking up on a similar story, but it would be a lot of fun to play as a former trooper.

Bastila Shan

Bastila Shan faces Revan in Old Republic

Fans adore the Old Republic era, but it's unclear which elements of this period of the timeline will be brought into the current Disney canon. Perhaps this is the perfect opportunity for Ubisoft to bring back a fan favorite character.

Bastila Shan is a loyal and fierce Jedi warrior who has come to define this narrative period. A game purely based around her life would be perfect to bring her back into the canon of the universe and update the Old Republic era for new generations.

Galen Marek

Galen Marke force pushes stormtroopers in Star Wars Force Unleashed

Audiences have fond memories of the Force Unleashed franchise. While the two games were far from perfect, they told a completely original story and brought in some really fun gameplay mechanics when it came to using the force.

Galen Marek may have not have been brought into canon so far, but there's no doubt he's always on Lucasfilm's radar. This character deserves another shot at redemption, and he may be able to fit into this new timeline so well that a game about him seems completely logical.

Asajj Ventress

Asajj Ventress wields her blade in Clone Wars

Ventress has had a confusing and complex life. From growing up with the witches known as the Nightsisters on Dathomir to serving as Count Dooku's apprentice, she eventually left that life behind to become a bounty hunter after being betrayed.

There's a period of time before her death that hasn't been explored too much, and this may be the perfect area for Ubisoft to explore further. Taking place on the grim streets of Coruscant, it may be a chance to revive the classic and cancelled 1313 in a new way.

Lando Calrissian

Lando Calrissian may be getting his own show, which means fans can get to know a lot more about the famous gambler and lover of capes, but there's plenty of room to continue his story in other ways. In fact, Ubisoft may be looking at a way to adapt Lando's log.

His tales from across the galaxy, throughout his lifetime, would make for some great video game missions. The swashbuckling businessman is both suave and intelligent, and he's certainly a different kind of hero for players to portray.

Qi'ra

Qi'Ra Solo Star Wars

Qi'ra hasn't had the biggest opportunity in Star Wars thus far. After Solo flopped at the box office, it seemed any hope of bringing these characters back was a long shot. Since then, there's been a lot of interest in the heroes and villains of the film though.

Already, characters like Lando and Dryden Vos are making a comeback in different ways, based on their portrayal in Solo, so it might be time to have a crime lord as the centre of a Star Wars game with Qi'ra building her empire. It's a spin-off many fans would love to see.

Hondo Ohnaka

Hondo Ohnaka in Clone wars

Hondo Ohnaka seems to be the bane of Obi-Wan Kenobi's life and will very likely turn up in his Disney+ spin-off show. The pirates of the Star Wars universe aren't given nearly enough attention, though that could all soon change.

Star Wars pirate game already sounds like a lot of fun, and who better to take on the role of the protagonist than the morally dubious Hondo. He has a code that he plays by, but it only ever works in his favor.

Din Djarin

Din Djarin Paz Vizla vibroknives

Din Djarin has a show centred around his journey with Grogu across the post-Empire galaxy. He has a lot of stories to tell about his life before he found the youngling, though, and a video game might be the best way to tell them.

Set before the events of Disney's The Mandalorian, it would make for a great story to see Din grow up under the Mandalorian code and take on his earliest missions as he continues to cut his teeth. This is a narrative Lucasfilm will visit at some stage, and a video game feels like the appropriate place to do so.

A High Republic Character

The High Republic Adventures Issue 1 Star Wars

The High Republic is a completely new initiative for Lucasfilm. It's probable that they want to bring some of these characters to consoles, much like they're already planning a TV show for Disney+.

There's a great number of characters that could serve as a protagonist for a game like this. The most probable direction to take a game like that in would be to draw from one of the leading Jedi in the High Republic and base it around both western and samurai themes, much like the books and, most notably, the original movie trilogy.
