Tyler Hoechlin has made a real impression as Superman on Supergirl but here's where else you may recognize the actor. Tyler Hoechlin started acting from an early age, first appearing in movies like 1999's Family Tree and Train Quest. His first big role came with 2002's Road To Perdition, which was Sam Mendes' follow-up to American Beauty. The movie followed Tom Hanks' hitman as he's forced to go on the road with his young son, played by Hoechlin, when his former boss targets the family. The young actor won great acclaim for his performance and managed to hold his own against vets likes Hanks and Paul Newman.

Tyler Hoechlin followed up the movie with TV show 7th Heaven, where he played the character of Martin Brewer from 2003 to 2007. Once he left the series Hoechlin jumped from various movie and TV projects, such as guest appearances on CSI: Miami, My Boys, and Castle, to horror movie Solstice from The Blair Witch Project co-director Daniel Myrick. Hoechlin later won a fanbase for his role on MTV's Teen Wolf, a moody TV remake of the cult Michael J. Fox horror-comedy. Tyler Hoechlin played hunky Derek Hale on the show for four seasons and later returned for a guest appearance in season 6.

In 2011 Tyler Hoechlin played a part in the Farrelly brothers hit comedy Hall Pass, and following his Teen Wolf exit would embark on several film projects. He appeared in Joseph Mazzello's sports drama Undrafted, Richard Linklater's Everybody Wants Some! and the 2017 British action film Stratton starring Dominic Cooper.

It was in 2016 that Tyler Hoechlin made his debut as Clark Kent/Superman on the CW's Supergirl. Hoechlin's charming, warm take on the character was in stark contrast to the more brooding version presented by Henry Cavill in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. His Superman was more in line with what longtime fans wanted to see from the Man of Steel, and Hoechlin would reprise the role for Arrowverse crossover events like the epic Crisis On Infinite Earths, where he appeared alongside other Superman actors like Brandon Routh.

Tyler Hoechlin will also appear in upcoming spinoff Superman And Lois. He's keeping busy outside of Arrowverse shenanigans too, appearing in 2018 trilogy capper Fifty Shades Freed, horror/action film The Domestics, and romantic comedy Can You Keep A Secret? alongside Alexandra Daddario. Tyler Hoechlin is also branching out to video games and will voice iconic bad guy Sephiroth in the upcoming remake of Final Fantasy VII, which arrives on the PlayStation 4 in April 2020.
