Warning: Spoilers for My Hero Academia chapter 374Reunions between Dabi and his father Endeavor along with Hawks and indirectly his former victim Twice are colliding in My Hero Academia in what's promising to be some of the series' most emotionally charged moments to date.

As My Hero Academia reaches for the finish line, fans have been expecting the closure of certain stories. Although necessary, Dabi's grapple with Shoto felt like it got in the way of one of these crucial threads: the confrontation between Dabi and their father. And since everyone was laser-focused on Himiko Toga's rematch against Ochako Uraraka, it was nearly understood that she would use Twice's blood against her, but instead, Himiko is using it to help her avenge Twice's death.

In My Hero Academia chapter 374 by Kohei Horikoshi, Dabi, who returned to fight his brother Shoto after it was believed Shoto had beaten him, is forced to choose to either continue his current battle or reunite with his dear father, and goes with the latter. Meanwhile, Himiko (copying Twice) leaves her rematch against Ochako to seek vengeance on the hero who killed Twice, Hawks.

Why These Reunions Are Perfect in My Hero Academia

Dabi leaves Shoto to fight their father Endeavor in My Hero Academia chapter 374

When Shoto defeated Dabi the first time, many fans were devastated since the series had been building up to his confrontation with Endeavor. Shoto may have replaced Dabi as their father's hope, but it was being shunned by Endeavor that haunted Dabi. Dabi essentially burned himself alive in the pursuit of gaining his father's attention. Of course, My Hero Academia tried to justify Dabi and Shoto's battle by introducing new details of their relationship that warranted a confrontation, but by then, the damage had already been done.

Meanwhile, My Hero Academia may have been hyping up Himiko and Ochako's rematch for the same amount of time, but the moment the story shifted from their battle to focus on the more high-stakes skirmishes, returning to their little reunion felt shallow by comparison. It might have been emotionally driven and a fan-favorite match-up, but it didn't fit the narrative's flow. So although Himiko's appearance as Twice proves that her fight against Ochako is over, My Hero Academia is at least revisiting this thread. Himiko was devastated when Twice died, and the fact that she could avenge his death is fitting justice. Moreover, Hawks and Twice did share a bond, even though Hawks was serving as a double agent at the time, so it's likely that Hawks might not be aware that it isn't really Twice, causing him to relive a moment he's guilty about. There's also the chance that My Hero Academia could revisit the idea that a quirk user's subconscious resides in the quirk itself. Since Himiko is emulating Twice's power, it's possible that the echo of Twice's personality could slip out, allowing "Twice" to relate his grievances to Hawks for being betrayed by someone whom he really trusted.

Although how My Hero Academia has been handling its final chapters has been controversial and disappointing for many, it's clear by these upcoming reunions alone that there have been instances when the series has shined through by effectively delivering some powerful moments that readers will get to fully enjoy and help them receive the closure they all deserve.
