Twitter is launching an initiative to support creators called the Spaces Spark Program. Last year, the social media platform started testing its version of Clubhouse for limited users called Spaces. Earlier this year, it rolled out the feature to users that have 600 plus followers. Twitter also released Ticketed Spaces this year, enabling hosts to charge for their events through tickets. The tech company takes a 20 percent cut of sales. That's on top of any in-app fees on the Apple Store and Google Play Store. Twitter isn't the only platform creating a rival to Clubhouse. Facebook recently released Live Audio Rooms.

Facebook is also supporting creators. The tech giant is investing $1 billion into programs to incentivize influencers to create content on Facebook and Instagram. The company launched bonus programs where users can get rewards for reaching certain milestones. On Facebook, creators can receive an "In-Stream Bonus" using ads in their videos, and gaming creators can receive monthly bonuses through "Star Bonus." On Instagram, influencers can receive "a one-time bonus for signing up for IGTV ads," rewards for meeting "certain milestones with badges" and money for how their reels perform. All programs are only available through invitation.

Now, Twitter has announced its own incentives for creators, Spaces Spark Program. It's a three-month initiative that will support users on Spcaes financially, technically and through marketing. The company is looking for hosts with an existing show, have recently started streaming audio, or have an idea to launch. The selection process will be based on the creator’s distinct point of view and the quantity and quality of content created. Users who haven’t used Spaces will still be selected based on audio shows on other platforms, including Spaces alternatives, radio or podcasts. If selected, Twitter users will be required to host at least two Spaces each week for the three months. Interested creators must apply for the program by October 22. The user must also be at least 18 years old, have 5,000 or more active followers and have a complete profile. The first phase of the program is only offered to people located in the U.S.

What Rewards Creators Get

Participants will receive $2,500 per month but must have a Stripe account to receive payments. The influencers will be responsible for all taxes. Twitter will also support creators by giving them monthly ad credits, showcasing them on Twitter's social handles, promoting them in the company's content series and giving them "opportunities for prioritized in-app discoverability for well-performing Spaces."

Creators will also get early access to new products and features, receive Spaces swag and be invited to a "virtual kick-off with Twitter product leadership." In addition, participants will be part of the Twitter Spaces Spark Program community, where they will meet other creators.
