Twitter has quietly confirmed the platform's Twitter Blue subscription plan. Last year, the company confirmed that it was exploring paid options for users as part of a broader move towards diversifying its revenue streams. Potential features have slowly leaked out from various sources since then and, while no features of the plan have been confirmed, it's thought they will focus on power users.

Among all of the rumors, app researcher Jane Manchun Wong recently provided what appears to have been the most comprehensive look at Twitter Blue so far. Wong reiterated the rumor that users would gain the ability to undo tweets for a brief period after posting, as well as the option for sorting bookmarks into collections. She also indicated that Twitter Blue would cost $2.99 per month but that it would likely not be the only paid offer from Twitter, indicating that a tiered subscription would ultimately be introduced.

Twitter has now confirmed the service's price on the iOS App Store, with the company having added Twitter Blue to its listing as an in-app purchase. The will indeed sell for $2.99 a month. However, the page does not reveal when the feature will launch or what features will be included with it. Twitter Blue is not live at the time of publication.

What Is Coming With Twitter Blue?

However, despite the lack of additional information from Twitter, Manchun Wong has revealed more supposed features. The researcher suggests that Twitter Blue will allow users to change the Twitter app's color theme and app icon. The icons included in the preview show static colors and two more textured variants. She also says it will come with a Reader Mode which will transform tweets and threads into more easy-to-read texts and that, as mentioned above, the service will also come with the 'undo tweet' feature, allowing subscribers to recall and edit their tweets for a short period after sending them. Other previously rumored paid features have included advanced features in TweetDeck and options aimed at creators such as so-called 'Super Follows' that would make it possible to charge other users for specific tweets and content.

Twitter's move towards offering paid features is part of a wider process of evolution for the service that has seen a host of new elements rolled out or in development. Twitter Spaces is Twitter's take on Clubhouse's audio rooms, for example, and even has its own paid Ticketed Spaces from which Twitter takes a cut. Elsewhere, a new Tip Jar feature allows users to send each other money and Professional Profiles will allow businesses to better tailor the information they show.
