When it comes to superhero movies, the Marvel Cinematic Universe and DC Extended Universe have got you covered. Whether you’re looking for a darker take or something a little more uplifting, the companies behind both major franchises have tried to tick all of the boxes throughout the years with a variety of unique and impressive offerings. That continues this fall, with the release of Thor: Ragnarok and Justice League; the latter of which has received a beautiful new banner, which you can see above.

From what we know, Ragnarok will be taking MCU fans on another journey away from Earth, with the God of Thunder trapped on the opposite end of the universe on the planet Sakaar, without his trusty hammer Mjolnir. There, he’s forced to do battle with old friend the Hulk if he’s to return to Asgard and save all who live there from the impending Ragnarok. Meanwhile in Justice League, Bruce Wayne and Diana Prince work together to assemble a team of metahumans to go up against the threat of Steppenwolf and his army of Parademons. With the villains searching for three Mother Boxes on Earth, the unlikely team of clashing personalities must come together if they’re to save the planet from destruction.

With just over a month to go before Ragnarok and Justice League hit movie theaters, the hype game is being ramped up tenfold by both Marvel Studios and DC Films, with the rival companies now both revealing a selection of hashtag emojis for their respective upcoming releases. Click on the twitter posts below to see them:

What’s interesting with the Ragnarok emojis is that both Hela and Valkyrie get their own special hashtags – not an honor that was extended to Karen Gillan and her character Nebula when hashtag emojis appeared for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Meanwhile over with the Justice League emojis, Superman’s not-so-secret return to the DCEU is further strengthened by the Man of Steel’s own hashtag emoji.

Now, with just a few weeks to go before Ragnarok and Justice League hit theaters, talk will turn toward what we should expect from the storylines in each, and just how well they’ll fare in the box office. Ragnarok is coming off the hugely successful MCU entry Spider-Man: Homecoming, which has earned the title of highest grossing superhero film of the year so far. The DCEU has also been given a new lease on life with Wonder Woman, which surpassed $800 million in the box office, beating all of the DCEU entries that had come before.

With all of the big names attached to Justice League, it’s going to be very hard for Ragnarok to keep up. Stranger things have happened, however, and with both Hulk and Doctor Strange set to appear in Ragnarok, they could provide the perfect opportunity for the MCU to trump the DCEU.
