Twitch streamer and Kinda Funny co-host Blessing Adeoye Jr. stated he's been the victim of several hate raids following Twitch's promises to keep the platform safer. Hate raids have been a hot topic for Twitch over the last few months, as many marginalized communities have been targeted by massive attacks from bots that typically spam the streamer with racist, homophobic, or otherwise toxic language that is typically against Twitch's terms of service.

A variety of Twitch streamers are planning to take a day off from the platform on September 1 in order to show solidarity with those who have been impacted by these hate raids. These hate raids haven't really been effectively addressed by Twitch, despite some official statements. As time goes on, it only appears to be getting worse and more aggressive. Some have even reported that these bots are coming in after a streamer has logged off and spamming the chat with horrible things while it's unmoderated, then reporting it so the streamer gets banned.

Twitch streamer Blessing Adeoye Jr. also stated that it hasn't gotten any better for him since Twitch's statement on August 11. Within the last week, he has been hate raided three different times and it doesn't seem like anything has been done to fix it. Twitch has stated it plans to roll out new tools to effectively deal with this, but it doesn't seem like anything of note has really been done yet. A variety of Twitter uses expressed frustration in response to Blessing, noting Twitch's silence since the statement on August 11. Blessing also noted he has a great moderation team in his chat but knows other streamers are not as fortunate.

As of right now, it's unclear just how effective Twitch will be in dealing with this issue. The slow response hasn't helped and the platform has had frequent issues with harassment in the past. On top of hate raids, Twitch has had issues with sexual misconduct from its various users amongst many other things, leading to questions regarding the safety of the platform.

With the likes of Blessing Adeoye Jr. and other streamers speaking out in regards to Twitch's lackluster efforts, it seems like more and more are getting fed up. It's entirely possible some streamers could abandon the platform entirely and go to another place like YouTube which may allow streamers to avoid this level of toxicity. As of right now, the silence from Twitch is quite loud.
