Twitch psychic Antphrodite has been accused of being a scammer after advising a viewer to leave their husband during a tarot card reading. A self-described “sassy psychic who mixes tarot with modern internet culture,” Antphrodite boasts over 20,000 followers on his Twitch channel where he livestreams tarot card readings for viewers on a daily basis. He also has his own website and a YouTube channel with over 47,000 subscribers and offers readings on such topics as relationships and careers alongside ‘celebrity readings’ that usually focus on telling the fortunes of internet personalities – most of which are seemingly unsolicited.
This isn’t the first time Antphrodite has been accused of shady behaviour. Just last month fellow Twitch streamer and YouTuber Steven Kenneth Bonnell II - aka Destiny - called him out during a livestreamed podcast by Trainwreckstv when he described Antphrodite’s work as “despicable” and that he basically takes money off his viewers and lies to them. Clearly, Destiny is not a believer in the whole psychic power thing and quite rightly so - it’s an industry that is often criticized for preying on vulnerable people.
However, it seems Antphrodite’s latest stunt has really invoked the ire of the internet. According to Dexerto, the self-proclaimed psychic was in the middle of streaming a tarot reading for a viewer on June 11 when he seemed to imply she should divorce their husband. In the livestream - a clip of which can be viewed on Streamable - Antphrodite states:
“I’m concerned. Listen to me. I’m not judging your relationship, I’m not gonna tell you what to do, but what I am gonna tell you is that I’m concerned about this person not wanting the best for you, regardless of what they say.”

Note that Antphrodite makes sure to state he’s not telling his viewer to follow his advice, nor does he explicitly say the viewer should leave their husband. Nevertheless, it’s safe to assume that someone paying good money for a psychic reading from Antphrodite does indeed believe in his psychic powers and might well be influenced to take drastic measures based on the advice of a random internet personality. A number of Reddit users certainly took issue with Antphrodite’s actions calling him a “scammer” and a “scumbag” while also pointing out that someone willing to divorce their husband over Antphrodite’s tarot reading as perhaps not so level-headed themselves.
The Antphrodite ‘divorce your husband’ debacle is the latest in a long line of Twitch-related drama. With over two million broadcasters, it’s one of the world’s biggest livestreaming platforms and has seen plenty of drama since it launched eight years ago. At the start of 2019, the platform was criticized for unbanning a Fornite streamer who had previously been banned for abusing his pregnant wife during a livestream. More recently, there’s been a legal battle between streamer Tfue and his employer FaZe Clan and yet more drama when Dr Disrespect was banned from Twitch for livestreaming from the bathroom at E3 2019. Whether Antphrodite will face any repercussions for his latest drama remains to be seen.
