Michael Cera wasn't cast in Twin Peaks the way that most actors have experienced. The David Lynch drama serves as a continuation for the original Twin Peaks, which had been off the air for 20 years before its renewed premiere. Revolving around several plot lines, including the murder of a librarian, the show includes mysteries and twists that spawned numerous theories.

While Twin Peaks leaves many questions, including what happened to Leo Johnson, the show also features several odd cameos and events. In one scene, Michael Cera appears on the show for a quick — if strange — cameo that leaves audiences as stunned as Frank Truman. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Cera explained exactly how that meeting came about, and how meditation played a role. Check out his quote below:

"The full story is that I did a transcendental meditation course with some friends, and a woman there said she was from the David Lynch Foundation and invited us to meditate with David Lynch. So about a month later, we went to David’s house, which is the house from Lost Highway, and at first it was me and David. He was so sweet and welcoming, but I was still just so confused about why he was having us, why we were allowed to be there and meet him. I was so excited. So we meditated with him for about 20 minutes. And then a couple of years later, I got invited to do this Twin Peaks scene. And my friend Eric Edelstein, who also mediated with us, got a part. I only worked with David for about two hours when we shot that scene, but it was so much fun."

Can Twin Peaks Ever Get A Season 4?

While a hypothetical Twin Peaks season 4 probably wouldn't feature too much involvement by Cera, the potential for it remains. Lynch has been tight-lipped about the potential for another season and previously argued that it was too early to discuss it. Yet, though Twin Peak's return took 25 years to put together, a Twin Peaks season 4 would need to come much sooner if David Lynch is involved.

Despite ending Twin Peaks on a season 3 revival, some cast and crew members expressed interest in a season 4, including the show's main star Kyle MacLachlan. However, any chance for a season 4 comes down to Lynch, who gives a unique style and cinematographic impact fitting for Twin Peak. But the season 4 possibilities remain dubious.

At the moment, the future of Twin Peaks looks remarkably bleak, which is a major disappointment, given that the show was an instant hit upon its return. No other show on TV has the same mix of intrigue and surrealism that comes from it, which is why it can be hard to explain mysteries like who killed Laura Palmer. If Twin Peaks ever does return, it will need to come back soon.
