Howard Shore, the man responsible for the Academy Award-winning score for the Lord of the Rings Trilogy has been corralled by the Twilight folks for that franchise's forthcoming third installment, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. A brass band-backed thank you to MovieScore Magazine by way of First Showing for the news.
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse will of course feature the franchise's stars (Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner) and has been directed by David Slade (30 Days of Night, Hard Candy). Melissa Rosenberg (who penned the screenplays for the previous installments, Twilight and New Moon ) adapted the Stephanie Meyer novel.
Shore's resume is extremely impressive, having worked in the film department on Doubt, Eastern Promises, The Aviator, The Game and Mrs. Doubtfire, as well as the aforementioned LOTR (just to name a few). So we know the music will be solid. A great score elevates anything it's attached to, so twi-hards should be thrilled their newest fix is all-but-guaranteed to be decent.
As if you weren't counting down the hours, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse hits theaters June 30, 2010.
