The movie franchise was completed with the final release, Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2, in 2012. Some of the stars have gone on to big projects while others have been quieter. We look at what the Twilight cast has been up to alongside the sequels and since the saga's end.

Bella Swan: Kristen Stewart

Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan

Twilight thrust Kristen Stewart into the limelight and she's barely stopped for breath ever since. While she was working prior to this, it was her role as Bella in the first movie which really jump-started her career.

Alongside filming the Twilight Saga she also appeared as Joan Jett in The Runaways, a biographical film about the all-girl rock band, and as Mallory in Welcome to the Rileys. She's since gone on to play Snow White in Snow White and the Huntsman, Bridget Sullivan in Lizzie and Maureen in Personal Shopper.

Stewart is also starring in the new Charlies Angels reboot, due to be released in November 2019 and has several other projects in the pipeline.

Edward Cullen: Robert Pattinson

Before Twilight, Robert Pattinson was known as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Since his starring role as Edward Cullen, his resume has grown. He starred in David Cronenberg's Maps To The Stars, alongside Julianna Moore and Mia Wasikowska. Pattinson has also had prominent roles in Queen of the Desert and The Lost City of Z.

Currently, he is about to embark upon another iconic role, that of DC superhero Batman. The movie, currently referred to as The Batman, is directed by Matt Reeves and is expected in the summer of 2021.

Jacob Black: Taylor Lautner

Taylor Lautner in Twilight

After Twilight, Taylor Lautner had a brief, steady but unremarkable career. He starred in Soham Mehta's Run The Tide and Daniel Benmayor's Tracers. Alongside this, he also had a couple of minor roles, including one in Adam Sandler vehicle The Ridiculous 6.

After this Lautner's main focus switched to television. He played Dale in the UK comedy series Cuckoo, from 2014 - 2018. During this time he also played Dr. Cassidy Cascade in comedy-horror Scream Queens.

Since his role in Cuckoo came to an end he has been noticeably absent from our screens. Lautner hasn't spoken publically about this but it has been suggested that he's stepped away to spend time with his girlfriend and his family after his post-Twilight projects failed to set Hollywood alight.

Esme Cullen: Elizabeth Reaser

Since Twilight, Elizabeth Reaser's career has remained slow and steady, with an emphasis on TV roles. Her first post Twilight project was in TV Mini-Series Bonnie and Clyde before she ventured into movie roles. She had a minor role in Hello, My Name Is Doris and a more major one in One and Two before turning back to the small screen.

Her more prominent TV roles have included Pam Bozanich in Law & Order True Crime, Shirley Crain in The Haunting of House Hill and Andi in Easy. She is currently filming a lead role in the upcoming action-drama Embattled.

Dr. Carlisle Cullen: Peter Facinelli

Post-Twilight Peter Facinelli went on to star as David Reynolds in Victor Garcia's The Damned. He also had a main role in Freezer and a more minor one in comedy-drama Walter. Around this time he also appeared on the small screen with roles in Glee, Nurse Jackie, Odyssey, Supergirl and S.W.A.T.

Facinelli has been incredibly busy over the last year or so in particular and is currently involved in four movies and a short which are currently in pre and post-production stages. One of them, Hour of Lead, has been written and directed by Facinelli himself.

Alice Cullen: Ashley Greene

Ashley Greene has gone on to have a steady and varied career since Twilight. She appeared in movies including CBGB, Kristy, Burying the Ex and Zach Braff's Wish I was Here. After this, she landed the role of Barbara Gordon / Oracle/ Batgirl's voice actress in Batman: Arkham Knight.

Since then she's had roles in other movies including Kill The King, Urge and Accident Man as well as playing Mia in TV series Rogue. Currently, she's involved in several projects including Max & Me and the upcoming movie Snowblind.

Emmet Cullen: Kellan Lutz

Kellan Lutz has had a steady stream of work since Twilight, with roles in Experimenter and Money before he went on to take the lead role in The Osiris Child. He also appears in What Men Want, Speed Kills, Guardians of the Tomb and Famous Adjacent.

Rosalie Hale: Nikki Reed

Nikki Reed as Rosalie Hale

After Twilight, Rosalie Hale appeared in a string of movies including Pawn, In Your Eyes, Empire State and Murder of A Cat. She also had a more prominent role in 2014's Balls Out.

The actress married actor Ian Somerhalder in April 2015 and announced her pregnancy in early 2017. She has not worked in the movie industry since 2016, presumably opting to spend time with her first child who is now two years old.

Jasper Hale: Jackson Rathbone

Jackson Rathbone as Jasper Hale

Jackson Rathbone is another Twilight star who has had a slow but steady stream of work since the franchise ended. After a couple of minor roles, he landed a leading role as Nick Green in  TV Series Aim High. After the two series run finished he went back to the big screen with the lead role in Live at The Foxes Den.

Since then he's been in several other movies including City of Dead Men, Pali Road and most recently The Wall of Mexico. Around these movies, he also returned to TV with a 12 episode run in Finding Carter and an 8 episode one in The Last Ship. Rathbone will be back on screens soon with a leading role in upcoming horror movie Do Not Reply and drama Dreaming Grand Avenue.

Charlie Swan: Billy Burke

Since Twilight, Billy Burke has had roles in a few other movies, including Highland Park, More Than Enough, Lights Out and Breaking in. However, it's been on the small screen where he's truly shined.

He has landed major roles in Zoo and Revolution. He also played a more minor role in Major Crimes. It's his role as Mitch in Zoo which is probably his most notable one and fans will no doubt be looking forward to him stepping back into the sci-fi genre once again with upcoming sci-fi series Primitive.
