The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 will easily be one of the top-grossing films of the 2011 Fall Movie season... and yet, it's arguably also part of the most polarizing blockbuster franchise ever. Seriously, not even director Michael Bay's Transformers trilogy seems to readily inspire unadulterated love/hate reactions like author Stephenie Meyer's supernatural romance novel-turned-movie series does.

Hence why it seems almost pointless to critique the newly-released second official trailer for Breaking Dawn - Part 1. If your skin crawls - or, by contrast, your heart swoons - whenever you hear a term like "Team Edward," there's pretty much nothing this trailer will do to change your mind.

Whereas the penultimate entry in the Harry Potter movie franchise served primarily as buildup for the more thrilling finale, a lot of the major plot twists and developments in Meyer's source material look to make the cut in Breaking Dawn- Part 1. Several important events will still take place in the second half of Breaking Dawn, but the most intriguing (or, rather, disturbing) turns in the story look to be covered before then.

For those who are Twilight movie fans only, here is the gist of what goes down in Breaking Dawn - Part 1: Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) are at last married and set off to enjoy their honeymoon in the tropical paradise that is Rio de Janeiro. There, the two... well, "get busy," and Bella ends up pregnant.

However, her vampire/human hybrid child not only forces Edward to take drastic action - in order to save his mortal wife - it also reveals the creepy unexpected truth behind Jacob's (Taylor Lautner) undying loyalty and love for Bella.

With that in mind - check out the second official trailer for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 (via Yahoo! Movies) below:

Say what you will about the story and characters of Breaking Dawn - Part 1 (we certainly have...), it arguably looks to be the most technically-proficient entry in the Twilight franchise. Oscar-winning director Bill Condon's decorated creative team - which includes director of photography Guillermo Navarro (Pan's Labyrinth) and production designer Richard Sherman (Gods and Monsters) - look to have done justice by Meyer's original novel. Twihards will certainly appreciate the stunning imagery of Bella and Edward intimately clutching one another beneath the cover of tropical moonlight - or Jacob, soaring through darkened woods as he races to protect Bella from an encroaching pack of werewolves.

As for everyone else... well, composer Carter Burwell's musical accompaniment for Breaking Dawn - Part 1 should be easy on the ears.

Some non-Twilight converts might actually turn out for Breaking Dawn - Part 1 simply because they want to see this franchise dive into some genuine supernatural (and unnerving) horror territory. By and large, though, if the narrative structure and soapy romantic atmosphere of the previous Twilight films wasn't your cup of tea, there's not a whole lot of reason to assume you're going to enjoy this new installment all that much more.

Twihards, on the other hand - Breaking Dawn - Part 1 doesn't look to disappoint.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 will arrive in U.S. theaters on November 18th, 2011.
