A new behind-the-scenes featurette shows off Sylvester Stallone's new mob series, Tulsa King. Created by Yellowstone's Taylor Sheridan, Tulsa King stars Stallone as a New York City mobster named Dwight "The General" Manfredi, who is recently released from prison and sent to Tulsa, Oklahoma to start up a new crew. The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire writer Terence Winter serves as showrunner on the series.

Tulsa King has a strong cast of familiar names and faces, including Dana Delaney, Garrett Hedlund, Annabella Sciorra, Martin Starr, Max Casella, Dashiell Connery, Andrea Savage, and Stephanie Kurtzuba. The show began filming in March 2022 on location in Tulsa and is set to debut after Yellowstone season 5 in November. Tulsa King is one of several new projects on the way from Sheridan, after signing on to produce more shows and content for Paramount+ after the massive success that Yellowstone has had thus far.

In a new behind-the-scenes featurette shared by Stallone, more of Tulsa King's story is revealed, including commentary from both Sheridan and Winter. Sheridan says that Winter will offer a "fresh look" at the mob genre, especially since it will blend with the western genre as Stallone serves as a fish-out-of-water in the Tulsa area, having grown up an East Coast mobster in NYC. Of Stallone, the showrunners highlight his collaborative contributions, being an actor, writer, and director. Stallone says that Tulsa King is "soulful, insightful, and relatable" and says that it will finally show a side of him that he's been wanting to show himself. Take a look at the featurette below:

Tulsa King is Stallone's first foray into television, making it a unique leap for the 76-year-old actor. It's unclear if Tulsa King will have any affiliation with Yellowstone, but Stallone has said that he'd love to appear on Sheridan's flagship show. As Tulsa King takes place in present day, same as Yellowstone, it's entirely possible that there could be a crossover at some point. Firstly, Stallone, Sheridan, and Winter will have to sell audiences on Tulsa King, which thus far looks like a unique take on the mob genre that has yet to be explored.

Given the high-quality work throughout the career's of Stallone, Sheridan, and Winter, it's hard to imagine Tulsa King as being anything other than great. Stallone hasn't explored mobster roles at great length, outside the comedy Oscar, so it will be a welcome change for the actor, who continues to show he's got more to offer Hollywood beyond Rocky and Rambo movies. Audiences will see if Tulsa King measures up to Sheridan's other work when it premieres on November 13th, 2022 only on Paramount+.
