Part of a generation of actors who grew up with their faces all over Nickelodeon advertisements, Nathan Kress participated in his fair share of projects for the network. He's appeared in several shows and original movies for Nickelodeon, but he's also worked behind the camera for the network aimed at kids and families.

Fans might still think of him as a comedic teen on family sitcoms, but he's worked on a variety of projects since then, and he's returning to the show that made him famous 15 years later for a streaming revival of iCarly.

True Jackson, VP (2008 - 2011)

Prince Gabriel shakes a man's hand while True Jackson looks on

Nathan Kress only appears in one episode of True Jackson, VP, but it's a memorable one for the criminally underrated show. Keke Palmer stars as the titular character, a designer who has to juggle her work commitments with high school life. It's True that spends the most time with Kress' Prince Gabriel. True is tasked with designing a suit for the teen royal, but that's not all she does. When she finds out that Gabriel spends most of his time sheltered in the palace, she takes him out on the town.

Up to this point, Kress had spent most of his time on Nickelodeon playing the nerdy outcast, so royalty took him in a different, though still comedic, direction for the network.

Breaking Brooklyn (2017)

Albee sits at his laptop and talks to his little brother

Stepping away from sitcoms as an adult, Kress started taking on more dramatic roles, like that of Albee in Breaking Brooklyn. The movie examines the relationships between brothers as they undergo financial hardship.

In the case of Albee, he's the big brother of a boy who loves dance. When their father is arrested, the two are left to survive on the streets, and they find refuge with a former professional dancer who now teaches children. The movie might not have had a huge release, but it allowed Kress to take on the role of caretaker, stepping out of the sidekick shoes.

Gym Teacher: The Movie (2008)

Roland falls from the climbing rope while his gym teacher looks on

In the late 2000s, Kress found himself typecast as the awkward nerd in several projects. Nickelodeon's original movie Gym Teacher: The Movie, put Kress in the same role.

As the new kid in school, his character Roland is so accident-prone and "not athletic" that he wears a helmet all the time. He's one of the kids in the gym class at the center of the story as Christopher Meloni plays the titular authority figure, who learns what it means to be a good teacher all over again.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! (2003 - present)

Jimmy Kimmel hosts Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Before Nathan Kress ever made it on Nickelodeon, he appeared in a very different comedic capacity that prepared him for the jokes and the pratfalls that would make up a large part of his career.

Kress worked on several episodes of Jimmy Kimmel Live! when he was only in the fifth grade. The young actor was employed as a member of the ensemble for sketches that ran throughout the show. Audience members might recognize him for his portrayal of a young Simon Cowell.

Into The Storm (2014)

Trey recoding time capsule footage

One of the few action movies on Kress' resume is 2014's Into The Storm. A disaster flick in the vein of Twister, the movie sees a team of storm chasers follow a line of storms right into a small town preparing for high school graduation.

Kress plays Trey Fuller, a sophomore whose father is the high school principal. Trey is tasked with helping with the senior time capsule.

The film landed mixed reviews, but it made a big impression on Kress' personal life. His future wife, London Elise Moore, was an actress and stunt performer for the movie.

Star Wars Rebels (2014 - 2018)

Wedge Antilles holds his helmet and looks pensive

Voiceover work can be a fun job for actors who want to hone their performance skills. They have to get all of their emotion across without actually appearing on camera. Kress got to do just that with a recurring role in Star Wars Rebels.

Kress brings classic Star Wars character and resistance pilot Wedge Antilles to animated life. He even voiced the character in the Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens video game as well.

Hawaii Five-0 (2010 - 2020)

Jake takes a lie detector test to prove he didn't kill his parents

It seems to be a right of passage for young television actors to eventually appear in a crime drama. For many, that's one of the Law & Order series. Kress, however, got to film in a brighter and more tropical locale than New York.

The actor appeared in one season 5episode of Hawaii Five-0. He played one of the teenage sons of a pair of murder victims. It was a bit darker of a television appearance than the Nickelodeon fare Kress was known for at the time.

iCarly (2007 - 2012)

Freddie, Carly, and Sam making their web show iCarly.

Kress found his big break in iCarly. The series ran for six seasons on Nickelodeon before it came to an end. While Miranda Cosgrove starred as the titular Carly, Kress played Freddie Benson, the neighbor who lived across the hall.

Initially, Freddie was obsessed with Carly and was little more than the technology guru who helped get her web show online. Eventually, however, Freddy became a true friend to Carly and her best friend Sam (Jennette McCurdy) with a little more depth than the usual sidekick. The iCarly characters rode off into the sunset in the series finale, but most of them are coming back for an upcoming revival on Paramount's streaming service, Paramount Plus.

Drake And Josh (2004 - 2007)

Before Kress starred in iCarly or appeared in a string of other Nickelodeon projects, he got his foot in the door with Drake And Joss. Part of producer Dan Schneider's time at the network, the series featured many actors who would go on to appear in iCarly as well.

Kress played the younger brother of another guest character, but he didn't end up having lines in the show. His scenes were cut, but he ended up cast in a major role in iCarly thanks to his work on Drake And Josh.

Henry Danger (2014 - 2020)

The heroes put their hands up in surprise

It's clear that Nickelodeon has been a great environment for Nathan Kress to hone his acting skills. The network has also, however, provided him the opportunity to step behind the camera. Kress has become a director for shows on the network.

One of those shows is the family superhero sitcom, Henry Danger. Since 2015, Kress has been in the director's chair for 11 episodes.
