It's true: Troop Beverly Hills (1989) is getting the reboot treatment sometime in the unspecified future. The throwback family movie focuses on Phyllis Nefler (Shelley Long), a mom who is getting a divorce from Freddy "the Muffler Man" Nefler (Craig T. Nelson). As much as she loves her daughter, Hannah, Phyllis becomes a second mother to Hannah's entire Wilderness Girls troop.

Some fans never tire of reliving the Wilderness Girls' adventures. As great as a Troop Beverly Hills reboot could be, these ten original cast members must be on board.

Shelley Long

Phyllis Nefler as troop leader at meeting

Who could play Phyllis Nefler but Shelley Long? No one. After her run as Diane Chambers on Cheers, Long became the most famous movie troop leader of the '80s and '90s. She learns that shopping is a skill, but patience is a virtue. The Rodeo Drive groupie becomes a real Wilderness Girl by the end of the film and is able to teach young women some valuable life skills.

Craig T. Nelson

Coach Jerry Van Dyke Bill Fagerbakke Craig T Nelson

The same year he started his long run as Coach Hayden Fox on '90s sitcom Coach, Craig T. Nelson also became Freddy Nefler. In the movie, he and Shelley Long's character are getting a divorce, but Freddy gets his own theme song: "Do you know the Muffler Man?" Even though the dad is going through a bad time and could be a lot nicer to his soon-to-be ex-wife, Freddy is an important part of the film. Since he and Phyllis patched things up back in '89, the dad should certainly return to reprise his role.

Jenny Lewis

Hannah Nefler all grown up

Actor and musician Jenny Lewis played lead Wilderness Girl Hannah Nefler. Even though she's Phyllis's daughter, Hannah doesn't get any special treatment. Her mother treats her just like the other Wilderness Girls, and Hannah finally feels like she belongs with her eccentric bunch of new friends. She also loves her mother and father equally and is incredibly strong in navigating their separation.

Jenny Lewis did not appear for the 2019 Troop Beverly Hills Reunion, but she included her role as Hannah in her "She's Not Me" music video in 2015.

Betty Thomas

Velda Plendor being naughty in Troop Beverly Hills

Betty Thomas played the villain of the movie, Velda Plendor. The domineering mom heads up another local troop, the Red Feathers of Culver City. Velda hates Phyllis Nefler and the Wilderness Girls with a passion and will do anything to beat them out, even if it means cheating. Velda isn't a nice lady, but she adds some comic relief to this beloved comedy. Although Betty Thomas pivoted to directing and producing after Troop Beverly Hills, fans definitely want to see her and Shelley Long in competition again.

Dinah Lacey

Dinah Lacey as Cleo Plendor in Troop Beverly Hills

Dinah Lacey played Cleo Plendor, Velda's daughter. Cleo is the mischievous ring leader of the Red Feathers. She takes orders from her power-hungry mother in efforts to snuff out the Wilderness Girls. Cleo is a ferocious cookie saleswoman, and she will stop at nothing to win, but Troop Beverly Hills still beats the Red Feathers. Dinah Lacey is a former child actor, but maybe she would still make a cameo in a new movie.

Mary Gross

Annie Herman played by Mary Gross, Troop Beverly Hills

Mary Gross is quite recognizable to '90s kids who saw her in Sabrina, the Teenage WitchThe Santa Clause, and other kids' shows of the time. The SNL alum plays Annie Herman in Troop Beverly Hills. Annie begins as Velda's minion and is instructed to get close to Phyllis Nefler to spy on the Beverly Hills contingent. Annie gradually gets fed up with Velda and decides to go with the Wilderness Girls. Mary Gross's comedic timing and personality are just what fans need to welcome Troop Beverly Hills into the 2020s.

Tori Spelling

Tori Spelling as Cleo's best friend among the Red Feathers

Tori Spelling took a break from 90210 developments and made it to the 2019 reunion for her other Beverly Hills role as Donna Martin. The actress acknowledges that she had a small part in Troop Beverly Hills--she is credited as Jamie, Red Feather. The member of the Wilderness Girls' rival troop doesn't have a ton of lines, but she's seen running around town with Cleo Plendor to sell cookies aggressively.

Carla Gugino

Olivia Crain smiling in The Haunting of Hill House

Carla Gugino was not physically there for the Entertainment Tonight reunion, but she did pop in on a video call to show her enthusiasm for her time playing Chica Barnfell.

Gugino was a bit older than the other Wilderness Girls, a fact she shared when James Corden expressed his and his wife's love for the film. While Gugino is a busy actress, she should still come back as Chica somehow.

Tasha Scott

Tasha Scott From Troop Beverly Hills

Tasha Scott is currently an actress, singer, and songwriter. She played Jasmine Shakar, the most musical member of the troop. Jasmine's father is a famous boxer, which is why fans especially remember the girl's line at the beginning of the film: "Now daddy, shake the man's hand and let's be on our way." Scott was all smiles at the reunion and laughed about how often fans come up to her about her role. Maybe there's a musical number for her in the works for the reboot.

Kellie Martin

Kellie Martin with Troop Beverly Hills cast

Kellie Martin already had an impressive resume in the 1980s by the time she played Emily Coleman. In Troop Beverly Hills, Emily is a troop member whose father is an out-of-work actor. Emily gets along well with the other girls, but she sometimes feels left out since they are wealthier than she is. Phyllis Nefler takes Emily under her wing in a memorable scene where the girl is struggling to pay for troop supplies. Although Kellie Martin stays busy with various projects, she joined some of her castmates for the 2019 reunion, and fans hope that the star will come back for the reboot.
