Screen Rant is excited to present an exclusive clip from the next episode of the new anime series Trigun Stampede, which arrives Janaury 21 on Crunchyroll. Based on the popular science fiction Western manga, which was written and illustrated by Yasuhiro Nightow, Trigun Stampede follows Vash the Stampede. As a legendary gunman who also happens to be a pacifist, Vash is endlessly pursued by bounty hunters due to the huge price on his head. Trigun Stampede is produced by Orange animation studio (who is also responsible for Beastars and Land of the Lustrous). Trigun Stampede is directed by Kenji Mutō.

Nightow's manga, Trigun, was originally published in Monthly Shōnen Captain magazine in 1995; publication ceased in January 1997, putting the series on hiatus until Young King OURs continued the story in October 1997 under the title Trigun Maximum. Trigun Maximum was completed in March 2007, with the chapters collected into volumes. The manga was first adapted into an anime series, Trigun, in 1998. The success of the anime boosted the manga's popularity as well, and in 2010, the movie Trigun: Badlands Rumble was released. The new anime has already garnered an incredible amount of popularity in just a few short episodes, with a new episode arriving tomorrow.

More About Trigun Stampede

Trigun Stampede Episode 1 Still

In Screen Rant's exclusive clip from Trigun Stampede's third episode, "Bright Light, Shine Through The Darkness," Vash confronts a hooded figure who sits at a piano. Gun raised, he asks the man if he is there to take a plant that is keeping the people of the town alive. The man confirms Vash's suspicions, claiming the plant is rightfully theirs, but Vash is quick to deny him his prize. He menacingly walks towards Vash, mocking him for wanting to help the people and calling it a cure for his loneliness, then places a finger on Vash's gun. Blue energy is emitted, and Vash is forced to lower his gun as he appears to be turned into a young boy before being thrown into what seems to be an interdimensional space.

In the clip, Vash seems outmatched by the hooded figure, unable to tap into his own powers as it is implied that he should be able to control his "gate." His desire to protect the town is admirable, but there may be something deeper to this need tied to his past deeds. Trigun Stampede follows not only Vash but also rookie reporter Meryl Stryfe and her hardened veteran partner, who investigate the vigilante. They soon discover Vash's pacifist ways and hatred for blood, but they uncover an even deeper and darker secret that has serious ramifications: Vash has an evil twin brother named Millions Knives.

Trigun Stampede premiered on January 7, with new episodes dropping on Crunchyroll every Saturday. The English dub will debut on January 21. Trigun Stampede is directed by Kenji Mutō with an original story by Takehiko Oki and series composition by Shin Okashima, Tatsuro Inamoto, and Yoshihisa Ued. Trigun Stampede features original character design by Kouji Tajima (GANTZ:0 character artist) and music composed by Tatsuya Kato (Revue Starlight).
