Trevor Noah of The Daily Show is reportedly working on a brand new Paramount animated movie. Noah took over The Daily Show from Jon Stewart in 2015, and since then has led the comedy late-night show into a new era of social commentary. The show became especially relevant in 2020 with its commentary on pandemic conditions and the United States as a whole. Noah has also continued to pursue creative projects outside of The Daily Show as well.

Now, Noah will be leading an original animated film with Paramount Animation, Variety reports. The plot of the movie is reportedly an original idea from Noah that is both comedic and relevant to the current time. The script is being written by Jon Pollack, who has written on Modern Family, and Jonathan Groff (the writer for Black-ish, not the Hamilton actor).

The plot of Noah’s animated movie is being kept under wraps for now, but it’s likely to have the same comedic-yet-thoughtful tone The Daily Show has as well. There aren’t any release details about the movie yet either, but with the Paramount+ streaming service launching soon, it’s possible that Noah’s film could end up on streaming along with other Paramount properties.
